Lesson Title: Special Concerns in Online Learning Environments Grade: Higher Education

Rationale for contemporary technology integration: Through this lesson, we want our classmates
to learn about several issues related to technology use in classrooms through the lens of three
broader concepts: digital equity, digital literacy, and digital safety. We also want our classmates
to learn tips for addressing each of these issues, and educating their future students about them.
We chose to use Pear Deck as our assessment tool within google slides, which is our presentation
tool. By including assessment throughout our presentation, we hope to give our classmates an
opportunity to reflect as they are learning, and address any misconceptions immediately.

Learning Target/Student learning outcome (SLO): The students will be able to articulate common
issues with technology. The students will be able to analyze these common issues through the lens of
digital equity, digital literacy, and digital safety. The students will be able to use tools, and activites from
the chapter to educate students on these issues.

Lesson Plan
Before: Begin the lesson by telling students what we are going to cover today. We will activate students prior
knowledge by asking to make a prediction about what the lesson will cover. Next we will tell the students to
take out their technology and go to PearDeck (joinpd.com). From here, we will move into the presentation.
During: We will go through the presentation with the students, white pausing for them to reflect and answer questions on
the material. At one point, we will have the students complete an activity in groups to give them an opportunity to enrich
their understanding of the content through collaboration.

After: After the content in the presentation is covered, we will review final point from the lesson. We will encourage the
students to ask questions about the content, so that we can identify any confusion immediately.
