INTRODUCTION

People now a days love to use the easiest way when it comes to our everyday lives.
Mobile telephones, laptop computers, handheld computers and internet that are so affordable
and useful , the works and researches can be easily made. Transportation , Communication ,
Commerce , Business Etc., Of course, with the help of these so called revolution of knowledge
are now part of many people and businesses around the world .

The Scope of Computer Networks Perhaps the most significant change in computer science
over the past twenty years has been the enormous growth of networks and their importance
in the daily lives of billions of people. Because of this growth, and the diversity of networks
now widespread across the globe, it would be impossible to cover all essential topics about
computer networks in one semester.

Instead, this course focuses on the basic fundamentals of computer networks as they were
established and as they have grown. This course is about computer networks. Our working
definition of a computer network will be “any system that allows communication between
devices that perform algorithms on data.” Although devices that perform data processing are
now invariably digital systems, not all of the devices connected to networks are data
processing devices. For example, a microphone, a refrigerator, an analog telephone, and other
devices may not necessarily be for information per se.

The history of networks, described below, includes many non-digital devices and, as networks
become more ubiquitous, more and more types of devices are connected to networks. The
historical and anthropological study of social networks, how humans interact and
communicate, is not limited to communication by electricity, radio, and optical systems.

However, for our discussion it is more useful to begin with the electrical telegraph and
telephone systems that became the foundation for what would become the first computer
networks.

BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY

The information about communication and their networks begun after the so called of the
revolution of knowledge. Many of the company, businesses, and other industries did not
think twice to use this technology which is the result of this so called revolution . one of
them is Mr. Mark Pena . He invest some of his savings to establish this computer shop . The
4 kidz internet cafe. His inspiration for investing and building this business was his hobby
on playing online and offline games. He begun to run this business around early June of
2013. And as time goes by, his career as a business man did run well and in just 2 years ,
from 10 units in one branch, now he have 3 branches with 54 , 49 and 38 units . you can go
to this shop on this address .Brgy lawa Meycauayan Bulacan . in terms of internet
connection,he used wireless connection. The FIBER connection when it comes to net
receiving. Goes down to router and from the router first the server and then , the users .
They have 3 branches aside from the main shop .And they both using the same internet
connection.
In business, there are a lot of problems we can struggle in the middle of operation or
activities. Customer behaviour, computer malfunctions and internet connection are one of
the major problems. As per him , to handle this kind of problems especially the customer
behaviour, he invested so much patience and understanding . the goal of his business are
fist , to earn money . then give the customer the best quality of pc rental experiences . aside
from that , he is promoting a healthy environment or safety of his customers. His vision
was to become one of the best pc rental in meycauayan even though there are some
hindrances and marketing enemy .

“We have different kinds of perception and goals about business . sometimes we need to
sacrifice just to become successful . just believe that you can do it and you will make it .” he
said .

As an case investigator, we saw his personality as the great business man . he can handle
different kinds of problems . he has the potential to handle every kind of circumstances . at
first , we thought that he is the kind of person who are very strict to his staff and customer.
Just like what the quotes said , “ do not judge the book on it’s cover .”

Before we closed this statement of this background of study , we would like to

congratulate ourselves for conducting successfully this research analysis . we would like to
thank also the owner of 4 kidz internet cafe for accepting and for the care that he gave to
us . this is the background of our study . this is the experienced that we experience for
doing this projects .

OBJECTIVE OF THE STUDY

The objective of this case study / research analysis is to learn the

dynamics and use of networking when it comes to business, with the
following :

- To understand the application needs or demand

- To understand the communication between applications on different
computer.

- Problems and Solutions

 STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEMS
According to Mr. Mark pena , (The owner of 4 kidzPisonet) He
seek to provide the best quality and services , safe and healthy
gaming and surfing environment . Best Internet connection ,
High Spec computers and Safe environment are the important
aspect since the customer or online games player spend a lot of
time for internet surfing and online gaming .

However, when the weather interefere , the wind, rain,

thunderstorm affects the flow of internet transmissions. And
also, Some of computers did not response and function very
well and some of the application were not be usable. As a
result, many of the customer/ player complaining and some of
them are leaving.

In response to this problem , our study proposes to put signs

that mentioning the major problem which is the interferrance
of whether when it comes in internet connection . conducting a
weekly ( as possible ) maintenance and General cleaning. This
action make the customer happy and contented.

- application won’t install - over heating

- keyboard , mouse , monitor problems -viruses

SOLUTION OF THE STUDY

The staff of the owner conducting a monthly maintenance to provide the best
quality and services to their customers/player. Aside from that, He is giving
some freebies and promo’s to attract customer and to make them stay and
happy.

SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY

Computer are now used in every domain field and sector and across industries. They are
used for variety of tasks, applications and activities and to enhance productivity on all
fronts with the following:

Communication the advent of the internet and its proliferation have force-multiplied the
usage of computers. People all over the world are able to communicate, engage the
interact with each other using IM, email, blogs, online forums, social media and other
options.

Entertainment high-end desktops and full-featured notebook PC’s have become all-in-one
entertainment systems for millions of users as they watch movies, sports events and news
program, shop, socialize, download videos and play games.

Jobs influence the widespread use and application of computer has created multiple
industries derived sectors and professions and facilitated job opportunities for millions of
people.

Education computer have simplified and streamlined the process of education for
millions of young teens, college going students and post-graduates. The use of computers
has democratized the influence reach and penetration of education and knowledge to
students in far flung and geographically remote regions.

DEFINITION OF TERMS

Here are some of the terms that the shop used in their everyday activities or operations:

TCP/IP MODEL – Transmission control protocol and internet protocol model is based on
four layer model which is based on protocols.

UTP – Unshielded twisted pair cable is a Wired/Guided media which consists of two
conductors usually copper each with its own colour plastic insulator .

PPP – point to point connection is protocol which is used as a communication link

between two devices.

LAN – local area network is designed for small areas such as an office group of building or
a factory.
MAN – metropolitan area network use the similar technology as Lan it is designed to
extend over the entire city.

ACCESS POINT - alternatively referred to as a base station and wireless router an access
point is a wireless receiver which enables a user to connect wirelessly to a network or the
internet. This term can refer to both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth devices.

ACKNOWLEDGEMENT – Short for acknowledgement, ACK is an answer given by another

computer or network device indicating to another computer that it acknowledgement the
SYN/ACK or other request sent to it note: if the signal is not properly received an NAK is
sent.

ACTIVE TOPOLOGY – The term active topology describes a network topology in which the
signal is amplified at each step as it passes from one computer to the next.

NETWORK – A collection of independent entities that are arranged in such a manner to

exchange data, information or resources e.g Road networks, telephone networks

COMPUTER NETWORKS – A collection of computers linked together using transmission

media for the purpose of communication and resource sharing

TRASMISSION MEDIA – Is a physical link between two or more computers and in which a
signal can be made to flow from source to destination

RESOURCE SHARING – Is the sharing of the resources that are attached to the network for
access by users egfile , data , application programs etc.

TELECOMMUNICATION – The communication i.e. transferring of data and information

over significant distances is known as telecommunication.
