About The Institution of Engineers (India)
The Institution of Engineers (India) or IEI is the largest
multidisciplinary professional body that encompasses 15
engineering disciplines and gives engineers a global platform for
sharing professional interest. IEI has membership strength of above
0.2 million. Established in 1920, with its headquarter at 8 Gokhale
Road, Kolkata-700020. In 1935, IEI was incorporated by Royal
Charter and remains the only professional body in India which
has been accorded this honour. Today, its quest for professional
excellence has given it a place of pride in almost every prestigious
and relevant organization across the globe. It provides a vast
array of technical, professional and supporting services to the
Government, Industries, Academia and the Engineering fraternity,
operating through its Centres and overseas chapters. Besides, IEI
has bilateral agreements with about 33 international bodies and
membership of other international bodies across the globe.
Being recognized as a Scientific and Industrial Research
Organisation (SIRO) by the Department of Scientific and Industrial
Research, Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of
India, IEI promotes the cause of research and development by
providing Grant-in-Aid support to undergraduate, post graduate
students and PhD Research Scholars of Engineering Institutions
and Universities.
IEI conducts Section A & B Examinations in various engineering
disciplines (popularly known as AMIE examination), the successful
completion of which is recognized as equivalent to Degree in
appropriate field of Engineering of recognized Universities of India
by the Ministry of Human Resources Development, Government
of India. Every year a large number of candidates appear for these
exams.
IEI in collaboration with Springer regularly publishes peer-
reviewed SCOPUS Indexed international journal in five series,
namely, Series A, Series B, Series C, Series D and Series E
covering fifteen engineering disciplines.

Introduction
To celebrate 100 years of service of IEI to the engineering fraternity,
Centenary International Engineering Congress will be hosted by
IEI Qatar Chapter at Doha during September 26-27, 2019. The
theme of the Centenary International Engineering Congress is
“Smart Engineering” – State of the Art Technologies in Oil &
Gas and Infrastructure Development”.
Smart engineering intelligently connects buildings, industries,
production processes, energy systems, to adapt and evolve the
way people live and work - happily, comfortably, sustainably and
in harmony. It supports the way the industry and organizations
want to be – efficient, responsible and smarter. Technology and
the ingenuity of people come together to be at one with our
 environments and to care for our world. It has to be done from
the macro to the micro level, from physical products, components
and systems to connected, cloud-based digital offerings and
services, from intelligent grid control and electrification to smart
storage solutions, from building automation and control systems to
pipelines, switches, valves and sensors.
The Technical Sessions will discuss different advanced and state-

of-the art technologies and technological innovations of integrated
engineering processes for development of Petrochemical and Civil
infrastructure.
Technical Sessions
The Technical Sessions will be divided into three segments which
are:
(1) Design and Operations (including operational management),
(2) State-of-the Art Developments, and
(3) Integration of Technologies.

Guidelines for Authors
Authors intending to submit a paper for Centenary International
Engineering Congress on “Smart Engineering” – State of the Art
Technologies in Oil & Gas and Infrastructure Development”
are advised to adhere to the guidelines as mentioned below. The
papers not conforming to these guidelines may not be considered
for review / publication.
Synopsis of Paper within 500 words with maximum five key-
words have to be submitted first and after acceptance of the same,
full text of the Paper has to be submitted.
Synopsis will be reviewed by domain experts and the decision will
be communicated to those authors whose synopsis is accepted.
Modalities
1. The paper must not have had prior extensive publication
or circulation. Publication in trade periodicals or other
professional or technical journals is considered extensive
publication.
2. The paper must be technically correct, and should be of interest
to a reasonable number of people working in the field of Oil &
Gas and Infrastructure Development. It may be theoretical, or
may present the results of laboratory studies, and it may state
or analyze a problem. The paper may also be a review-type
paper, but must be of significant value to the technical field. The
paper should contain new knowledge or experience in some
field related to Oil & Gas and Infrastructure Development.
3. The paper may present information about equipment, tools,
and software used in the field. Such papers must show the
definite applications and limitations of such equipment, tools,
or software, and must avoid any commercialism.
4. The abstract must have the necessary clearance from competent
authority (if required) before submittal. Prospective authors
should provide information on any clearance problems when
the abstract is submitted.
5. Both theoretical papers in various fields, and application papers
presenting solutions to problems, are desired and review will
emphasize the quality of the contribution and its value in the
field of Oil & Gas and Infrastructure Development.
6. Please avoid use of commercial trade names, company names,
or language that is commercial in tone in paper titles, figures,
and slides. Trade names can only be identified once in a paper
to explain details for processes or methods, allowing other
researchers to reproduce the results.
7. The manuscript will be published in an electronic format.
Printed Conference Volumes may be available after the
Conference. The maximum desirable length for any paper is
about 10 pages, fully formatted.
Preparation of Full Text of Paper
v Papers should be camera-ready in MS-Word format, not
exceeding 3000 words in length and should not carry more
than 5 illustrations /photographs.
v The language of the Publication is English. The mode of
presentation should be in third person.
v SI units should be used wherever possible. Other units, if used,
should be given only in parentheses preceded by SI units.
v Mathematical symbols should be typed and care should be
taken to differentiate between similar characters (e.g. 1 and I),
upper and lower case letters and superscripts and subscripts.
v Lengthy mathematical proofs and derivations and extensive
test data are discouraged. If absolutely essential, they should
be given as an appendix.

The papers are considered for possible publication on the
understanding that these have not been submitted to any other
publisher. The copyright of papers accepted for publication lies
with The Institution of Engineers (India) and reproduction of the
papers or any part thereof is not allowed without the permission
of the Institution. Contributors are required to sign a declaration to
this effect while submitting their papers.
As per Bye-Law 118 of IEI, Copyright of each paper published
in Institution Journals or Proceedings in full or in Abstract at its
Centres shall lie with the Institution.

Registration
Corresponding / Presenting Author(s) have to register themselves
for the Centenary International Engineering Congress, without
