Research Problem and Prediction about Moderating and Mediating effect

NAME: _________________________________

In this course requirement, you are to come up with a sample research proposal about:
1. A moderating effect
2. A mediating effect

Variables to be Examined in Moderating Relationship

For each variable:

1. Write a one-paragraph description of the variable. Cite your sources.
2. Write a one-paragraph description of your proposed measure for that variable. Include the name and source of
the measure, the number of items, some sample items, the response format, and information about the measure’s
reliability and validity.
Begin the above two paragraphs with the variable name as heading.
Cite your sources.

Statement of and Literature on the Hypothesized Moderating Relationship

1. Diagram the hypothesized moderating relationship.
2. State the hypothesized moderating relationship. It must be clear in your statement which are the independent
variable, the dependent variable, and the moderator.
3. In two paragraph, discuss the theoretical, conceptual, or empirical support for the hypothesized relationship.

For each variable:

1. Write a one-paragraph description of the variable. Cite your sources.
2. Write a one-paragraph description of your proposed measure for that variable. Include the name and source of

Statement of and Literature on the Hypothesized Mediating Relationship

1. Diagram the hypothesized mediating relationship.
2. State the hypothesized mediating relationship. It must be clear in your statement which are the independent
variable, the dependent variable, and the mediator.
3. In two paragraph, discuss the theoretical, conceptual, or empirical support for the hypothesized relationship.
