Analysis of Statically Indeterminate Structures

Semi-Final Exam (optional)

Default Semi-Final Score is 60/100

General Instructions
1. Choose a building (preferably your own home) as your subject for analysis.
2. Of that particular building, select a simple frame of at least 3 members and
create an idealized model.
3. Determine all the dead load and live load acting on the frame (refer to NSCP).
4. Determine the base reactions of the frame. Use any displacement method of
analysis (SDE/MDM/Stiffness).
5. Draw the shear and moment diagrams of each member of the frame.

Submit in the following outline;

A. A. Photo of building
B. B. 3D model of building frame with chosen frame highlighted
C. C. 2D model of chosen frame with dead loads and live loads (Frame to be
analyzed)
(cite assumptions/elements/loading not considered)
D. D. Analysis
Complete manual solutions
E. E. Final Results
a. Frame showing base reactions
b. Shear and Moment Diagrams
F. Appendix
a. Dead Load and Live Load Calculations (rectangular tributary areas
acceptable)

Format of submission:
On paper size A4, printed or handwritten (with printed photo, of course).
Presentation and neatness will also be graded.

Students with the same building will have the total score divided accordingly.
