9. (ER) OIL SERVICING – ENGINE OIL (Applicable to Boeing 737-NG Series)

CAUTION: Oil should be uplifted to full between 5 to 60 minutes of engine shut down to avoid over- servicing.
a. Check engine oil and calculate consumption rate as follows:
For Domestic flight: Check oil quantity through cockpit gauge and ensure the oil quantity is in the range of
84% to 100% (17-20 QTS). Calculate the oil consumption rate whenever oil is uplifted.
For International / EDTO flight: Check oil quantity through oil tank sight gauge and service to FULL level.
Calculate the oil consumption rate. For flight departing from international stations, if the oil quantity is above
90% of full capacity or 18 QTS, no oil top up is required. However oil consumption rate has to be calculated.
(Use 5%= 1 quart=0.95 liter for conversion). Note: Pilot should contact MCC if the oil level is below 90%
/ 18 qts.
b. Record oil uplift and oil consumption rate for each engine in the Tech log.
c. Ensure oil consumption rate is below 0.4 Qts/hr or 0.38 lts/hr prior to EDTO certification / release.
Note: If oil consumption is above the EDTO limit but below maximum oil consumption limit 1.10 Lts/hr
(1.16Qts/ hr); aircraft may be released for NON-EDTO flight under intimation to MCC.

10. OIL SERVICING – ENGINE OIL (Applicable to Boeing 737-8 Aircraft)
CAUTION: Oil should be uplifted to full between 5 to 60 minutes of engine shut down to avoid over- servicing.
a. Check engine oil and calculate consumption rate as follows:

For Domestic flight : check oil quantity through cockpit gauge and ensure the oil quantity is in the range of
84% to 100% (18.75-22.32 QTS) . Calculate the oil consumption rate whenever oil is uplifted.

For International / EDTO flight: Check oil quantity through oil tank sight gauge and service to FULL level.
Calculate the oil consumption rate. For flight departing from international stations, if the oil quantity is above
90% of full capacity or 20.1 QTS, no oil top up is required. However oil consumption rate has to be calculated.
(Use 5%= 1.116 quart=1.06 liter for conversion).
Note: Pilot should contact MCC if the oil level is below 20.1 QTS.

b. Record oil uplift and oil consumption rate for each engine in the Tech log.
c. Ensure oil consumption rate is below 0.36 Qts / hr or 0.34 lts / hr (Normal Oil Consumption) prior to EDTO
certification / release.

Note: If oil consumption is above the EDTO limit but below maximum oil consumption limit 0.70 Lts / hr (0.74
Qts / hr), aircraft may be released for NON-EDTO flight under intimation to MCC.

11. (ER) OIL SERVICING – APU OIL

a. Interrogate APU oil level in FMC CDU/MDS (as applicable). If oil quantity indicates “ADD”, service to “FULL”
level when the aircraft is being released for International / EDTO flight.
b. Record oil upliftment in Tech Log and calculate the APU oil consumption rate. Ensure oil consumption rate
is below 0.162 Qts/hr or 153 cc / hr prior to EDTO certification / release.
c. Record in Tech log the date and APU “operating Hours” (from CDU/MDS (as applicable)) at each oil uplift
and cancel the previous entry.
d. If oil consumption is above the EDTO limit, but below maximum oil consumption limit (0.264 Qts / hr or 250
cc/hr), aircraft may be released for NON-EDTO flight under intimation to MCC.

12. REFUELING:
Carry out fuel sampling check for water and other contaminants before refueling and refuel the aircraft
following all refueling precautions.
