IMPORTANT SECOND VOTE – SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 14

We at EMAAK are very grateful for the enormous support shown to us by so many of you at
last Sunday’s elections. This encourages us that you, too, are committed to a change in the
way that things are done on a municipal level. We are pleased to currently be the leading party
with 48.32% of the vote, but because no party received 51% of the vote there will be a second
round of voting this Sunday, November 14. The first round of voting was for individual
candidates but the second round of voting will just be between the parties that came first and
second in last weeks vote, in order to determine who will be the Mayor and how many
candidates from each party will be on the municipal council.

It is therefore imperative that you all vote for EMAAK again this Sunday.
Please do not assume that because did well last week EMAAK will win. Things can
change so easily and we urgently need your support again because every vote counts!
A vote for EMAAK on Sunday will be a vote specifically for Babis Koukianiakis to be the Mayor
of the new, combined Apokoronas municipality.

Please vote for EMAAK if you understand that The Apokoronas will be best served by
the only party which has the experience and commitment to actually deliver the
promises that have been made.

We at EMAAK believe that the past actions of the main candidates speak
louder than words. Whilst making your decision please look at the facts and past histories
of both mayoral candidates and please read the interviews and statistics on the impartial
website www.apokoronasnews.gr

A vote for Babis Koukianikis and for EMAAK is a vote for integrity,
unrivalled experience, honesty, and for sensible and realistic plans.

As the deputy leader for the entire prefecture of Chania since 2007, Babis Koukianakis has
quietly made many ground breaking changes that have improved the lives of many in the
prefecture. Babis Koukianakis is a strong and charismatic leader with the organisational ability
and budget handling skills (for a large area) that cannot be equalled. He is not interested in
personal glory, but in bettering the area where he grew up, as one of 9 children in an
impoverished family. When speaking to people who have previously worked with Babis, the
resounding comments that you hear are that he is an incredibly honest and kind man with a
huge amount of integrity, excellent organisational skills, and a tireless commitment to helping
others.

The other party is fielding a mayoral candidate who has been in charge of the municipality of
Kryonerida for 16 years. There has not been much improvement in the area and there is a
large deficit in the budget there (as published in the “Chaniotika Nea” newspaper). You may
well agree that this does not bode well for the new much larger combined Apokoronas
municipality. The other party boasts that it will have the only English councillor if they get voted
in. Does it matter where you, as a councillor, come from if you can do the job properly and are
interested in all of your constituents’’ needs – no matter which part of the munidipality they live
in or which country they originate from. Many of the EMAAK councillors speak perfect English
and have been working with Greeks and non-Greeks for many years. Anastasia Fronamakis is
a prime example of this. She is a teacher by profession but also runs both the Women’s Craft
Co-operative and the Museum in Gavalohori. The non-Greeks in Gavlohori know that they can
always rely on Anastasia to willing give her time to help them if they have problems, and she
will be able to do this for the entire Apokoronas area if EMAAK get 51% or more of the vote on
Sunday.

Babis Koukianakis has made it very clear that he believes that above all we are all human
beings and he does not like to see a divide drawn between Greek and Non-Greek. We have all
chosen to live here because we love this beautiful area, and he will be asking for everybody’s
help to improve things. We are very well aware that winning on Sunday is just the very first
step on a difficult path to a better future for our area. We need your help on Sunday and we will
need your help in the future as well. As he did when he took over the fire service, Babis will be
asking for volunteers to help in many different ways – from cleaning up the area to helping the
sick and needy, and he will organise these volunteers in a very effective way. Babis also
believes that all areas of the new, larger Apokoronas municipality are equally important – from
Asi Gonia to Kalives – and that no one area should take priority!

For those of you who are still unaware of the EMAAK manifesto, a copy can be seen on our
website at www.emaakapokoronas.blogspot along with latest news and photos from last
weeks lovely evening of food, music and dancing at the Ippokorian taverna in Nippos .

The polling stations will be open from 7.00am – 7.00pm on Sunday. You will need to show
your passport and then you will be given two pieces of paper. This time you do not need to
mark anything, just fold the piece of paper with your chosen party (EMAAK) on the top and put
it into the envelope that you will have been given. Seal the envelope and then drop it into the
box. We will have people at the polling stations in case you have any questions or need any
help.

FOR OUR AREA TO FLOURISH UNDER THE EXPERT AND HONEST GUIDANCE OF
BABIS KOUKIANAKIS, IT IS IMPORTANT THAT WE HAVE A STRONG AND UNITED
EMAAK COUNCIL.

IF YOU CARE ABOUT OUR AREA, PLEASE VOTE FOR EMAAK ON

SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 14.

A VOTE FOR BABIS KOUKIANAKIS AND FOR EMAAK IS A VOTE FOR

STRONG AND HONEST LEADERSHIP AND AN IMPROVED ENVIRONMENT
FOR US ALL TO LIVE IN.
