NARRATIVE REPORT ON FIRE DRILL

S.Y. 2015-2016

Fire is the result of a chemical reaction, called combustion. At a certain point in the combustion
reaction, called the ignition point, flames are produced. When an unwanted fire happens in particular
establishment or even at home, this may destroy many lives and properties. Which is why, since month of July
is recognized as “Fire Prevention Month” the Department of Education sent an order to conduct a fire drill in
every school in order to inform each learner on how to save their lives and be free from any damages
whenever there is a conflagration.

A fire drill is a method of practicing the evacuation of a building for a fire or other emergency.
Generally, the emergency system (usually the fire alarm/smoke detector) sounds and the building is evacuated
as though a real fire had occurred. Usually, the time it takes to evacuate is measured to ensure that it occurs
within a reasonable length of time, and problems with the emergency system or evacuation procedures are
identified to be remedied.

In connection with this, the Caminto Elementary School executed a fire drill last July 31, 2015 (Friday)
@ 9:30 in the morning headed by each class adviser. Before it started, there was an orientation on what to
perform during the final drill given by the class advisers to each Grade Level and the conduct was facilitated
also by them. The said drill conducted this way, when a bell rang once; one of the pupils stood and knocked
the door of the comfort room to check whether anyone is inside or no one. When a bell rang twice, another
pupil ran to the main door and held the door while the rest of the pupils were all went out from the classroom
by putting their left hand on the right shoulder of his/her classmate while bringing things that they could only
reach during the unforeseen fire. The teacher was the last one who went out from the classroom to assure
that each pupil was enabled to escape from the big conflagration. Then each class adviser counted the number
of his/her pupils who participated at the open evacuating area.

Certainly, the fire drill was effectively completed with the genuine interest and cooperation of the
pupils and teachers to learn about it.
