MATH GRADE 2

I. Objective
At the end of 60 – minute class at least 80% of the Grade 2 pupils are expected to:

 Show and use the appropriate unit of weight (in kilogram and the abbreviations kg) to
measure a particular object

Reference: Elementary Mathematics 2, pages 353-357
Materials: Weighing Scale, Different Products, Cartolina, Fruits,

Let the pupils put fruits/goods on the weighing
scale showing its actual weight. (Sharlotte and Rex)

Remember: Abbreviation of kilogram is kg.

Present a word problem to the class.

product being used)
1. Orich bought 3 kilos of sugar in the
market.
Kent: 3 kilograms
What do you think is the mass of the sugar?

2. Kinly buy 1 kilo of salt and 1 kilo of


sugar.

G. Performing an Activity (Show me Board)
Write the exact amount shown in the picture.

G. Now let us have a group activity. I will
divide you into 2 groups and I will distribute a
cartolina for each group. I will give you 5
minutes only to do the activity. But before
that, what are the standards/rules to follow in
group activity?
Everybody read the following.
1. Read and follow instructions carefully.
2. Observed time limit.
3. All members should cooperate.
4. Talk softly.
