Dear Ma’am,

Good day.

I am Pia Yap, an incoming first year student in the UP College of Law currently living in
Muntinlupa City. I am writing this letter with the utmost humility in the hope of attaining a slot in
your dormitories. The commute from Muntinlupa City to Quezon City is nothing short of dreadful,
sometimes reaching up to five hours for a one way trip. Living in a dormitory located inside the
campus would be a tremendous help in saving money from the commute to and from the university,
as well as from the utility bills at home. The greatly reduced distance of the dorm to the UP College
of Law (relative to my permanent place of residence in Muntinlupa City) will also allow me to
make the most of my time and permit me to dedicate it wholly to my education. Obtaining a slot
in the UP dormitories would be an enormous help with my studies and daily living.
