Setting Hoist and Crowd Limits via a Laptop

(4100XPB series shovels)

The setup is basically the same as if you were using the touch screen to set the
limits. The difference is that you must now toggle specific bits on and off during
the process. The following sequence explains the shovel position and bits
associated with each position.

1. The first step is to turn the LUBE / PLS keyswitch to the Programming
Mode. This is the same as with the touchscreen.

2. Next you must enter the limits mode by toggling bit B46:0/10 first on and
then back off. CAUTION! There will no longer be any limit protection until
the completion of this process.

3. To enter the “change limits” mode you now toggle bit B46:0/0 on and off.

4. At this time you should move the hoist and crowd to the point sheave
position. Once there, set the brakes and toggle B46:0/1 on and off. This
will set the hoist limit as well as the upper point for the boom profile.

5. Next move to the crowd out position. Toggle bit B46:0/4 on and off to set
the Crowd limit.

6. Now move to the tuck position and lower the bail to set the limit that will
set the hoist brakes if the ropes pay out too far. This is done by toggling
bit B46:0/2.

7. Move to the last position, retract with the handles perpendicular to the
boom. Toggling B46:0/3 will set the retract position as well as the other
required setpoint for calculating the boom profile protection.

8. By toggling bit B46:0/5 the new limits will be enabled. Carefully move to
all positions to confirm the slowdown and limit areas as well as the lower
position - hoist brake set.

9. Once all limits are confirmed return the LUBE / PLS keyswitch to its Run
Mode.

This completes the process.
