ROAD HAZARD AND DEBRIS

OBJECTIVE: Austin Materials | Industrial Asphalt Aggregates is committed to providing a safe, quality
and exceptional road way for the traveling public. While we strive to maintain a safe and clean work
zone, there are circumstances that may lead to the damage or unsightly mess to the traveling public’s
vehicles. At Austin Materials | Industrial Asphalt and Aggregates, we take allegations of damage
seriously and investigate each one on an individual basis; however there are certain circumstances that
we are not liable for damages and will not file claims or provide monetary damage reimbursement for.
Two very common instances are vehicles that are damaged due to road debris and acts of god
(weather). If the damage is caused by a company owned truck then more information will be needed
and an investigation will be conducted.

ROAD DEBRIS –

A form of road hazard that is on or off of a roadway. Road debris includes substances, materials, and
objects that are foreign to the normal roadway environment. Debris may be produced by vehicular or
non-vehicular sources, but in all cases it is considered litter, a form of solid waste. Debris may tend to
collect in areas where vehicles do not drive, such as on the edges (shoulder).

ACT OF GOD –

An act of god would include weather based events such as high winds, storms, floods or similar events,
where out of the control of the company, damage was caused to an asset or vehicle.

DAMAGE FROM COMPANY OWNED VEHICLE –

If damage is the direct cause of a company driver or vehicle, you may file a complaint with the HSE
Department; however there will be certain information that is needed in order to validate a claim
allegation.
1. The Vehicles license plate
2. Truck number
3. Route/Address (Be specific)
4. Pictures of damage

If you have any questions or concerns or would like to file a damage complaint, you may contact
the HSE Department via email at safety@austinmaterials.com
