Folkdance/Ballroom/Modern dance Rules and Mechanics

1. Contestant - limited to bonafide ANHS students
2. Composition:
 Folk Dance – 5 pairs – male & female (10)
 Ballroom Dance – 5 pairs – male & female (10)
 Modern Dance minimum of 10 members - all female/ all male /mixed gender combination
3. Time duration including entrance and exit:
 Folk Dance – 2 to 5 minutes
 Ballroom – 3 to 5 minutes
 Modern Dance – 3 to 5 minutes
4. In view of safety reason:
 No dangerous aerial choreography
 Safety of dancers is up to their dance teacher’s discretion
5. Music
 Music will be collected 5 days before the competition
 Prepare an extra copy in case of technical difficulty
 The technical coordinator will be instructed on when to keep the music running
6. Props
 Used in the performance should pose no danger

7. All violations committed by a team will have a certain deduction from the total score (1point per
violation). The committee cannot be held responsibility for the quality of your performance if you do
not follow the above guidelines.

9. Judging Rules
 The winners will be decided by a panel of judges selected by the Competition Organizing
Committee. The list of judges will be announced to all competing teams prior to the competition
 The Judging Criteria are set and decided by the Competition Organizing Committee.
 The winners are decided by the top four highest scores form the Judging Criteria. The winners will
be awarded from the 1st to 4th places.
 The decision of the judges and committee are final and binding.

10. Every team is responsible for the security of its own music, costumes, make-up, props and belongings.
Make sure you do not leave any valuable items unattended. The Competition Organizing Committee IS
NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY LOST OR DAMAGED ITEMS.
