COURSE DESCRIPTION: In Grade 7, students study people, places, and societies of the
contemporary world. Students describe the influence of individuals and groups on historical and
contemporary events, and identify different ways of organizing economic and governmental
systems.
Supplies Needed: 1- 1 ½ in binder with 5 tab dividers and a packet of notebook paper

STUDENT RESPONSIBILITIES/CLASSROOM RULES


 The student is responsible for keeping a class journal.
 The student must come prepared to work by bringing paper, pens, and map colors.
 The student should show respect and courtesy towards the teacher, other students, and school
staff at all times.
 Rudeness, profanity, and bullying will not be tolerated.
 The student must conform to the Manzano dress code standards.
 The student must be engaged during instruction and submit required assignments.
 No gum, candy, or drinks are allowed in the classrooms or hallways.
 Textbooks and school property (desks, walls, and library books) should be treated with respect.
Any damage incurred by the student will result
in an immediate office referral.

 Severe classroom disruption requires immediate office referral.

GRADING CRITERIA
 Tests/ Projects will account for 60% of the student’s six week average.
 If a student retakes a test due to failure-the highest grade will be a 70.
 Daily assignments, quizzes, homework will account for 40% of the student’s six week average.

CHEATING
 Cheating is interpreted as a procedure which involves the unauthorized use of help, offering, or
seeking aid when testing or completing assignments. The penalty for cheating is a zero (0).
 Plagiarism is also considered cheating.

MAKE-UP WORK/ LATE WORK/HOMEWORK POLICY


 It is the student’s responsibility to request make-up work due to absences.
 Usually homework will consist of work not completed in the class.
 Late assignments will be deducted 10 points every day until the work is submitted.

TARDY POLICY
 The student is responsible for being to class on time.
 Lunch detention or other disciplinary action will be implemented if the student is tardy to class
twice or more during a week.
 Parents will be immediately notified.

ABSENCES
 When a student is absent, he/she misses learning.
 The student must provide an absence note (signed by the parent) to the office prior to
attending class after the absence.
 It is the student’s responsibility to ask the teacher for assignments.
