INSTRUCTIONS FOR STUDENTS

 If due to any reason the lab is not held
on any of the scheduled day, it will be
conducted on the day, which will be
convenient to the students and staff.
Copy of the Lab. Manual will be sent
to you by email.
 Read the details about the
experiments to be performed before
coming to the lab.
 There will be a simple quiz at the
beginning of the lab asking you about
the objective of the experiment,
radioactive source/s to be used,
nature of the detector, qualitative
result that is expected from the
experiment, etc. Refer the ppt for the
details
 Bring all the materials required like
copy of the manual, pencil, eraser,
pen, scale and calculators while
coming to the laboratory. Graph paper
will be supplied. Calculation using
cell phone is not allowed.
 Wait till the instructor explains you the
experiment. Do not start the
experiments by yourself.
 Follow the instructions given in the
manual and the ones given by the
instructor carefully.
 After completing the experiment, plot
the graph and get it verified from the
instructor.
 Finish up the writing of the report and
submit it on the same day. Each
student should submit the report in a
file individually on the same day
before leaving the laboratory. The
reports, which are submitted after
that, will not be evaluated.
 Maintain the timings of the
laboratory. Those who come after
2.00 p.m., and before 2.05 p.m. will
lose 25% grade for that lab. Those
who come later than 2.05 and
before 2.10 p.m. will lose 50% of
the grade. Coming to lab after 2.10
p.m. will attract 64% penalty. All of
the above shall be for the In-sem
portion (70% weight). Unauthorized
absence (without prior permission
except on medical ground) will
attract zero credit for that lab.
 DO NOT MIS-HANDLE or PLAY
WITH THE INSTRUMENTS OR THE
RADIOACTIVE MATERIALS. THEY
MAY CAUSE HARM TO YOU AND
OTHERS IF YOU DO NOT HANDLE
THEM CAREFULLY.
 If there is any problem while
conducting the experiment, contact
the instructor. Do not try to set it right
by yourself. If may damage the
instrument.
 A final Quiz/Viva/Experiment will be
conducted as given in the schedule.
Weightage:
Initial quiz : 14%
Lab work : 56%
Endsem Quiz & Experiment : 30%(
