My Learning Essentials
The classroom climate that is conducive for learning is one that is non-threatening
yet business-like. It is a classroom where:
Specific classroom rules and procedures are clear.
Classroom rules and procedures are discussed within the few days of the
school.
Students are involved in the design of rules and procedures
Techniques to acknowledge and reinforce acceptable behavior are employed
Clear limits for unacceptable behavior are established and negative
consequences for such are communicated
Classroom process are democratic

1. As you observe the class, look into the characteristics of the learners.
Note their ages.
2. How many boys are there? How many girls are there?
3. Focus on their behavior. Are they already able to manage their own
behavior?
4. Can the learners already work independently?
5. Describe their span of attention.
6. Look inti their listening skills and ability to concern.
1. Some of the students are noisy while the teacher is discussing their lesson, but
most of the students are listening. They are 14-15 years old.
2. There are 24 boys and 23 girls.
3. As senior students in their school, most of the students can manage their
behavior but some of them cannot control their noise.
4. Most of the students are still depending their answer with their seatmates.
5. The students exert more patience especially when their teacher is discussing
their lesson.
6. They listen very well to their teachers’ discussion.
1. Are there areas in the classroom for specific purposes (storage of teaching aids,
books, students’ belongings, supplies, etc.)? Describe these areas.
There are some books located at the back and they are arranged properly. They
also have chalk box in the front beside the table.
2. Are there rules and procedures posted in the room? List them down.

3. Did the students participate in making the classroom rules? If yes, and the
resource teachers is available, ask him/her to describe the process.
Their teacher said that most of the students are following the rules but some of
the students are not. For those who are not following the rules based on her,
she gave punishment for those students.
4. What are the daily routines done by the teacher? (prayer, attendance,
assignment of monitors, warm-up activities, etc.) How they are done?
The teacher started the classes by the opening prayer that is done by the prayer
leader, to be followed by greetings from the teacher and the students. Next is
the attendance that is reported by the group leaders and the discussion part.
7. If a learner is not following instructions or is off-task, what does the teacher do?
Describe the behavior strategies use.
While the teacher is discussing and the students is too noisy, she will stop the
discussion and after the few seconds the students are quiet.

In every class, there are students that a teacher cannot easily get the attention
while discussing specially when they are bored and there are some distractions on
them. So as a teacher, you need to think more activities and you need to be
energetic in class so you will get your students’ attention.

1. How did the classroom organization and routines affect the learners’
behavior?
Because the students are familiarized with their daily routines and
because of that some of them are bored, but the teacher can get the
students attention by discussing energeticly with some activities.

should you have in mind?
She must think that he/she needs to be a energetic teacher and ready
fo the question of his/her students.
