EDITOR’S NOTE
Y oga is a 5,000-year-old tradition from India that combines physical, mental and spiritual pursuits to achieve harmony of
the body and mind. At the behest of the our Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, on June 21 2015, the entire world
celebrated the 1st International Day of Yoga. PM rightly stated: "Yoga is an invaluable gift of India's ancient tradition. It
embodies unity of mind and body; thought and action; restraint and fulfilment; harmony between man and nature; a holistic approach
to health and well-being. It is not about exercise but to discover the sense of oneness with yourself, the world and the nature”.
The Yoga Institute promotes Yoga with the modern approach to make the world understand the abundance of Indian practices,
inculcate among them the habit of compassion and regulate their minds through Yoga as lifestyle modification. Exclusively designed to
cope up with the changing times and suit hectic lifestyles, the Institute has simplified all techniques of Yoga by keeping the essence and
benefits of technique intact.
This IDY, make a pledge to discover the multi dimensions of this easy-to-do universal practice and
resolve to make Yoga a part of your peaceful, joyous, healthy, and holistic life. The Yoga Institute calls out
to people from all walks of life and from every corner of the world to join us in celebrating the 4th edition
of International Day of Yoga. On 21st June 2018, Yoga sadhakas of TYI will be conducting special Yoga
programs over 100 locations across the globe. In Mumbai, TYI will also be conducting Yoga sessions
following the Common Yoga Protocol at Mantralaya, along with other places.
To mark IDY 2018 and World Music Day, on 21st June, in collaboration with MP Cultural Ministry,
The Yoga Institute is a grand event Yognaad. It will be attended by over 10,000 yoga aspirants along with
eminent dignitaries from respective fields.
On the occasion of Mother Sitadevi’s birth anniversary on 1st June, we offer tribute to Smt. Sita Devi Yogendra, the the first woman
who learned and taught traditional Yoga to the homemakers.
The year has flown by and this June, 2018 is the First Anniversary issue of Yogasattva, a magazine covering the art and science of
living. A year ago, we began this blissful journey with the blessings of our Gurus Dr. Jayadeva Yogendra and Dr. Hansaji J Yogendra. We
extend gratitude to everyone for their love and support in form of wishes and blessings.

I n life questions are countless, but the answer is Yoga. Yoga is not
confined to just doing exercises or some asanas that you perform in
a Yoga class. It is a balanced approach and a practice that is inclusive
of many aspects of one’s day-to-day routine. We at the Institute

Now how to eat your meals? Routines of eating Sattvic meals are just as
important. Today everyone is TV oriented while taking meals. There is no
sense of enjoying the meal. It has become mechanical. Family lunch and
dinner time should be encouraged. Eating should be a sacred act where
the whole family enjoys at least one meal together. Chew your food well.
Dining with a sattvic frame of mind is also important, i.e. wholly present
with gratitude in mind.

inertia that come in a platter along with it!
The River of ‘ Life’ flows all around us. The way our Life progresses,

Understanding Menopause
L et us know more about menopause and embracing maturity. So
what is menopause? Menopause is that period of time in our lives
when the periods finally stop. You’re not going to be termed
menopausal till there are no periods for one year. For an Indian woman,
the average age of menopause is 47 years.
Some changes which you will notice immediately are– hair fall, facial hair,
shrunken breasts, dry and wrinkled skin. There is decrease in the desire
for sex during menopause, due to low estrogen levels. In few cases, it has
been found that women feel the need to get intimate but vaginal dryness
hinders. Creams and lubrication suggested by doctors can help. Weight
gain and change in shape is another problem. Most of the weight shifts

Since last five months I have been attending Yoga classes conducted by The Yoga
Institute at Thakur Complex. I have incorporated Yoga as a part of my daily
routine. This has really helped me in many ways. I am feeling more healthier & fit.
Besides losing excess fat this has helped me in channelizing my energy and better
focus on my whole day activities. The Yoga Institute is one of the oldest institute
imparting yogic training in the world. They teach traditional yogas consisting of
asanas, pranayamas, kriyas & yogic techniques. Their all teachers are well trained
and they have gone through rigorous teachers training course in the Yoga Institute
itself. I see many interns going through internship of 2-3 weeks along with me
during my classes. Overall I would say it’s a great experience which really gives
exercise to body as well as mind feeling rejuvenated and fresh.
