Activity: Create your own ‘butterfly’ painting!


It does not have to look like the butterfly at the end of the
book, you can make it you own!

What you need:


- Piece of white A3 paper
- Different coloured paints
- Newspaper (to cover your work space)
- Paint brushes
- Paint trays

Examples:

Steps:
1. Fold the piece of white paper in half
2. Place blobs of paint onto ONE HALF of the white
paper. Use as many different colours as you like.
Try to create a shape of a butterfly with the paint!
3. Fold the piece of paper in half again
4. Open the piece of paper and you will have created
you very own butterfly!

Activity: Role-play a stage of the lifecycle of a butterfly to


your group.
Your group must then guess what stage you were acting
out!
Steps:
1. Look at the pictures of the different stages of the
lifecycle of a butterfly.
2. Think of a creative way you can use your body to
show a stage of the lifecycle.
3. Take it in turns and present to the group how you
would use your body to show a stage
4. Your group must then guess what stage you were
showing them!

Activity: Using the flash cards provided play the memory


game in small groups!

Steps:
1. Place the flash cards picture down onto your
desk
2. Take it in turns to try to get a matching picture.
3. The person who has the most pairs wins the
game!
