KET for Schools is an exam set by Cambridge English Language Assessment. It is also
known as the Cambridge English: Key for Schools exam. It tests your ability to read,
write, listen and speak in English. If you pass, you will get a qualification which
shows that you have a basic knowledge of English and that you can do things like:
 ask questions to find out about someone’s family or hobbies
 give facts about yourself
 talk about your likes and dislikes
 understand simple instructions
 follow simple travel directions

PET is an exam set by Cambridge English Language Assessment. It is also known as
the Cambridge English: Preliminary exam. If you pass, you will get a qualification
which shows that you have an intermediate level of English and that you can:
 use English in everyday situations
 understand written texts like signs, notices, emails and simple articles
 understand spoken English such as public announcements, information on
the radio, talks and interviews
 pick out the important details in longer texts and
understand speakers’ opinions
 follow instructions and ask and answer questions
 express opinions and offer advice
