CHAPTER 1

Introduction

Background of the study

As we all know that acid rain is a dirty water but we can try to use it

For pouring our plants to grow instead of water in the fosset we can use acid rain

To pour plants.

Acid rain is the rain that has been made acidic by certain pollutants in the air. Acid rain has
decreased the growth of many forced plants. It has also limited the nutrients available to the plants.
Acid Rain Could Be Good For Forests. ... He's found that the trees grow faster at higher temperatures
and store more carbon at greater concentrations of nitrogen, a chemical constituent of acid rain,
providing there is sufficient moisture. Andrew Burton, an associate professor at Michigan Tech and
head of the National Institute for Climatic Change Research's Midwestern Regional Center, is part of
a team of researchers that has been monitoring and measuring the temperature, moisture levels and
nitrogen deposited by acid rain or varying levels of experimental nitrogen at four forest sites ranging
from northwestern to southern Michigan since 1987. He's found that the trees grow faster at higher
temperatures and store more carbon at greater concentrations of nitrogen, a chemical constituent of
acid rain, providing there is sufficient moisture. The research, which started out as an acid rain study
in 1987, has grown into one of the longest continuous research studies supported by the National
Science Foundation. A new five-year grant of $151,628 will fund the research through 2012. Acid
rain that seeps into the ground can dissolve nutrients, such as magnesium and calcium, that trees
need to be healthy. Acid rain also causes aluminum to be released into the soil, which makes it
difficult for trees to take up water. ... The acidicclouds and fog strip important nutrients from their
leaves and needles. Scientists believe that acidic water dissolves the nutrients and helpful minerals in
the soil and then washes them away before the trees and other plants can use them to grow. At the
same time, the acid rain causes the release of toxic substances such as aluminum into the soil.

Statement of the problem

The researcher would like to answer the questions:

 Can be the acid rain is effective?

 The acid rain helps the plant alive?

Conceptual framework

Independent variable Dependent variable

-acid rain -plants

HYPOTHESIS

H0- the acid rain can be not effective

H1- the acid rain can be effective

OBJECTIVE

 to determine whether the said that acid rain is effective.

 to provide knowledge for other persons that the acid rain is effective.
 To convince other people to make their own plnts by using acid rain.

SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY

The significance of the study is that it helps people to make their plants healthy by
Pouring acid rain. It also help you saving money and without spending money to pay in
water district it make your plants health because of nutrients and vitamins.

This study give new information making their plants health without paying anymore bacause
you used water in the fosset. This study make there guide in making their plants healthy.

SCOPE AND LIMITATION

The scope and limitations of this is that it can be made by peopleby their guide and
the materials are only found in the rainy season also can be used in any kins of plants.

DEFINITION OF TERMS

ACID RAIN- rain fall made sufficiently acidic by atmospheric pollution that it cause
enviromental harm, typically to the forest, lake and etc.

PLANTS- Plants definition, plants form the clade Viridiplantae (Latin name for "green
plants"), a group that includes the flowering plants, conifers and other gymnosperms, ferns and their
allies, hornworts, liverworts, mosses and the green algae, but excludes the red and brown algae.
