Britain provides some of the best education in the world. But the number of UK universities in the top 100
THE rankings dropped from 12 to 10 in 2016. Institutions not recruiting enough high-quality staff from
abroad due to increasing restrictions on visas, and Brexit may lead to a slipping away of foreign staff
talent. Enthusiasm for the British brand internationally seems to have moderated.

Is this because of Britain dropping, or Asian universities catching up? Is Brand Britain still a powerful
attraction? Where is the sector headed? Tell us your view and join policy-makers and the leading names
in education in this important debate on 23rd Jan in London: goo.gl/M7NFQ3

Higher education more than any other sector requires international mobility of students and staff. Nearly
34,000 academics working in the UK have come from elsewhere in Europe and recruiting high-quality
staff from abroad is of vital importance for UK Higher Education. But Brexit might lead to slipping away of
foreign staff talent. Read more here: https://goo.gl/WDPhQd

We are organising a debate at #EIC2018 on whether the brand of Britain Higher education has dropped
due to Brexit or whether Asian universities are getting better. Hear from Dr Joanna Newmann, Lord Karan
Bilimoria, Mr Nick Hillman and Mr Pratik Dattani about this. Register here: goo.gl/M7NFQ3.

Traditionally, education was about imparting knowledge but today, skills that are easiest to teach and test
are also easiest to outsource and automate. In this fast-evolving sector, young people need to equip
themselves with modern equipment and they must be imbued with curiosity and open-mindedness so as
to develop skill oriented learning throughout their lives. Read this article by Andreas Schleicher, Director
for Education and Skills, OECD to find out more- https://goo.gl/JDDRxY

Education Innovation could mean something different for an educator, a technologist, a corporate and for
students. In this constantly evolving sector, we must find ways to accommodate changes in institutional
demands, demographics, technology, student needs, pedagogical trends, political pressures,
employability and other challenges.

If the robots are coming to change the nature of the world of work, how can the education sector
respond? How can the sector today help create a workforce that can do tomorrow’s jobs? To what extent
can education technology help? Are universities adequately equipped to be as agile as they now need to
be? Where the opportunities for foreign collaboration?
We at #EIC2018 are organising a Panel Discussion on 'What does education innovation mean to you?’.
Hear the views of Dr Sonal Minocha, Richard Everitt, Prof. Mammo Muchie and Supriyo Chaudhuri as
they talk about opportunities in foreign collaboration and how can education technology help in creating a
workforce that can do tomorrow's jobs.

Education sector is evolving at a rapid pace. In this constantly evolving sector, we must find ways to
accommodate changes in institutional demands, demographics, technology, student needs, pedagogical
trends, political pressures, employability and other challenges. The biggest question is which forces and
trends will drive the coming of education innovation?

In less than three weeks, Education Innovation Conference will bring attendees from more than 15
countries to talk about the latest trends in the education sector, and meet counterparts from other
educational institutions to form global partnerships. The last two years of the Education Innovation
Conference have seen major delegations of Vice Chancellors, skills providers, leading public policy
thinkers, edtech companies and investors from around the world attending to discuss collaboration in
this area. This year’s conference will attract more than 200 attendees, with delegates from over a dozen
countries already confirmed.
This year’s agenda will include debates, panel discussions and innovation showcases and it will feature
eminent speakers like Andreas Schleicher Director for the Directorate of Education and Skills, OECD ,Dr
Joanna Newman(Secretary General, Association of Commonwealth Universities), Lord Karan Bilimoria,
Chancellor (University of Birmingham), Dr Sonal Minocha University of Birmingham (Pro Vice Chancellor,
Bournemouth University) and many more.

Along with that, there will be three exciting workshops. The first workshop ‘’Informed Strategy Planning:
using big data on real-time student demand’’ will present real-time insights into student interest for
selected countries and cities and how to use these insights to target international students, but also to
determine where to open new campuses around the globe. The second workshop ‘’Doing Business in
India’’ is aimed at UK and other universities targeting collaborations with India. The third workshop
‘’Developing International Strategies for Universities from Emerging Markets’’ is especially for
international delegates who would like to learn from the UK’s strong experience in setting up support
for International Students. Read more details here: https://www.economicpolicygroup.com/press-
