(Different Types of Tequila)

I. OBJECTIVES:
1. Identify the kinds of tequila;
2. Appreciate the value of moderate drinking alcoholic beverages; and
3. Match the different kinds of tequila.

II. INTRODUCTION:
There are varieties of alcoholic beverages that undergo in different process of
fermentation and extraction before it goes to our houses for different occasions like
debut party, wedding, anniversaries, fiestas and other celebrations. And it is usually with
the partner of panghimagas or pulutan like peanuts, cornicks, bopis, sisig and many
more.

According to some research moderate drinking of alcohol is also beneficial for


our body because it can release the stress and tension that cause by everyday work
and for some people they intake alcohol to relax and calm their body whenever they
have a hard time to sleep. But even alcoholic beverages have positive effect on our
body we shouldn’t ignore the negative effects that we can get if we abuse it.

III. LEARNING CONTENT:


TEQUILA- It is colorless Mexican liquor, made principally from cactus- called Maguey or Mescal
plant.
* There are two labels of tequila which is the white label that is colorless, and the gold label
that is light as result of aging in oak barrels.

1. CUERVO- Jose Cuervo is a brand of tequila that was founded in 1795 by Don Jose Antonio
deCuervo.
2. EL CONQUISTADOR- El Conquistador Reposado Tequila - A 100% blue agave Tequila
presented in a striking tall hand-blown bottle with cork closure, El Conquistador is a well-
regarded super-premium Tequila, aged a minimum of 7 months.

3. CABO WABO TEQUILA- Recognized as one of the finest tequilas in the world, Cabo Wabo
Tequila Reposado delivers a distinctive experience that even the most discerning drinkers find
delightful and unique. An assertive nose of sweet lime, orange and fresh herbs excites upon
pouring. Maturation in American oak casks for 4 to 6 months infuses the Reposado with a bold

4. TEQUILA TESORO- It is distinguished by stopping the distillation when the alcohol reaches 80
proof-unlike most producers which add water to bring the alcohol content down after distillation.

5. TEQUILA CASSTA GUSANO- This product used to be called Gusano Real but the name was
later changed to "Casta - Worm Bottle."
6. MESCAL DE TEQUILA- The word mezcal comes from the Nahuatl words metl and ixcalli, which
taken together mean "oven cooked agave." Like tequila, mezcal is made by roasting agave
hearts in an oven.

7. TEQUIZA TEQUILA- labeled as “Beer with blue agave nectar and a natural flavor of imported
tequila and lime” is referred to as a “fruit beer” in the same way that drinking red wine and
spitting in a glass of bourbon can be referred to as “making a Manhattan.” The label
lists four primary ingredients, and only one of them (lime) sort of goes with beer, so long as the
beer is bland and flavorless

8. SAUZA TEQUILA- It was founded in 1873 when Don Cenobio Sauza started La Perseverancia
distillery. Sauza Tequila Import Company is owned by Beam Suntory, headquartered in the
Chicago suburb of Deerfield, Illinois.
IV. VOCABULARY WORDS:
 Agave- Any of a genus (Agave of the family Agavaceae, the agave family) of
plants having spiny-margined leaves and flowers in tall spreading panicles
and including some cultivated for their fiber or sap of for ornament.
 Distillation- The process of purifying a liquid by successive evaporation and
condensation.
 Proof spirit- An alcoholic liquor or mixture of ethanol and water that contains
50% ethanol by volume at 60%F (16˚C)
 Bourbon- A whiskey distilled from a mash made up of not less than 51% corn
plus malt and rye.
 Mescal- A usually colorless Mexican liquor distilled especially from the central
leaves of maguey plants.

V. SUMMARY:
Tequila is colorless Mexican liquor, made principally from cactus- called Maguey or

hand-blown bottle with cork closure. The third is Cabo Wabo Tequila it has a bold peppery flavor
and hints of fruit that linger on the palate briefly, followed by a long, spicy finish. Next is Tequila
Tesoro, it is distinguished by stopping the distillation when the alcohol reaches 80 proof spirit.
The Fifth is Tequila Cassta Gusano. It is used to be called Gusano Real but the name was later
changed to "Casta - Worm Bottle." The next kind of tequila is Mescal de Tequila the word itself
comes from the two words mezcal and ixcalli, which taken together mean "oven cooked agave."
Next is Tequiza Tequila which labeled as “Beer with blue agave nectar and a natural flavor of
imported tequila and lime” is referred to as a “fruit beer”. And the last is the Sauza Tequila it was
founded in 1873 when Don Cenobio Sauza started La Perseverancia distillery.

VI. CONCLUSION AND RECOMMENDATION:


Drinking alcohol is beneficial for our body, it can use for therapeutic purposes
and some are used to drink to relax their selves, some are to forget their problems. But
no matter what reasons you have for drinking, we need to minimize it because too much
exposure to alcohol can harm and caused several diseases.
