Vaccination Policy
•  CKPU supports immunization as an effective way to reduce risk of
contracting flu

•  CKPU upholds the right of nurses and Front Line to make the

•  A well-planned and executed voluntary campaign should give us

Outside Pressures on a Mandatory
Vaccine policy for all HCW
•  Department of Public Health officials are compiling their
own report on flu vaccinations among hospital workers in
the wake of a critical probe by the consumer advocacy
group.
•  The American Academy of Pediatrics
affirmed the importance of health workers getting such
vaccines, saying they should be mandatory for doctors,
nurses and other health workers. They called such a
step part of workers' "ethical and professional obligations
to act in the best interests of the health of their patients."

•  Each region has identified a coordinator of the flu vaccine
program
•  Each coordinator will:
–  Prepare timeline
–  Determine where to have the most effective impact for
spreading information
–  Ensure that there is readily available vaccination to
inoculate all employees
–  Ensure that Video is shown at meetings and is available
through the web and ensure that written materials are
distributed to staff
