II – PROJECT TITLE

EFFECTIVENESS AND BENEFITS OF ROSEMARY, MARIGOLD LEAVES

AND LEMON GRASS AS INSECT REPELLENT

III – OBJECTIVES

To find out the effectiveness and benefits of rosemary, marigold leaves and
Lemon grass as insect repellent.

How to prevent mosquito and insect population from rosemary, marigold leaves
and lemon grass extract.
 IV - METHODS AND MATERIALS

Materials

Water , garlic, Olive Oil, Eucalyptus Oil, marigold leaves, rosemary leaves,
lemon grass, basin, empty bottles, mortar and pestle, strainer.
 Step 1:
Peel the skin of the garlic

Chop the garlic into small pieces using mortar and pestle and distilled the garlic
to get the extract.
 Step 2:

Wash the Lemon grass and boil it a little water. After boiling keep it warm and
separate the lemon grass leaves from the extract.

Wash the Rosemary and Marigold leaves , boil it in the little amount of water
then keep it warm and separate the leaves from the extract.
 Step 4:

Pour the extract of rosemary, Marigold and garlic extract into a bowl , Then
,add the eucalyptus , olive oil and mix it thoroughly. Then transfer the mixture
to empty bottle of insect sprayer.
FINISHED PRODUCT
 V – RESULT
Result shows that when we mix all the extracts with eucalyptus oil olive oil, it
smells mint and its aroma takes long lasting where the researcher smells the
aroma of lemon grass, rosemary and Marigold.

As the result the observation of the two candies, one candy will be treated a
little amount of eucalyptus oil, olive oil and extract of garlic and other candy is
without the ingredients. After 15 minutes to one hour, the candy without
ingredients are now approaching by the ants. But the other candy still no ants
because of eucalyptus oil, olive oil , garlic extract, and lemon grass repel the
ants away.

VI – CONCLUSIONS
The researcher can say that the hypothesis was right Lemon grass, Rosemary,
and Marigold leaves can repel insect away and can be an effective and
alternative way of natural insect repellent because of the oil produce by the
lemon grass.

VII – SUMMARY
The researcher may recommend to use this kind of insect repellent because it is
not expensive and these extract have many uses in our lives and daily activities.
It is also good for the health. Other people do not know the other uses of these
leaves. So, the researcher recommended the new effective natural mosquito
repellent. It is purely made form lemon grass, rosemary and marigold extract,
garlic extract, eucalyptus oil, olive oil. The researcher tested and proved that
this alternative and most effective to repel mosquito bites. It is keeping us away
from disease caused by the mosquitoes and other insects. No need to buy the
commercial one because in our home, We can make our own insect repellent.
