 Department of EEE, JNTUA CEA organized a one-day workshop on “Awareness on Power Systems Simulation
Analysis using Mi Power” on 22-09-2015 in collaboration with PRDC, Bangalore. Dr. K. Jithendra Gowd,
Assistant Professor of EEE was Coordinator for the Workshop.
 In association with JNTUHCEH, JNTUACEA organized a two-week Faculty Development Programme on
Entrepreneurship from 06th July 2015 to 18th July 2015. The programme was Sponsored by Entrepreneurship
Development Institute of India under DST- NIMAT 2011-2015.
 Women Empowerment Cell, JNTUA, Ananthapuramu, organized the programme on “Ayurveda for Better
Living” on 14th July , 2015 at JNTUA, Ananthapuramu. Dr. Sruthy, apart from delivering the lecture, had a very
useful interactive session for the Staff members .
 Women Empowerment Cell, JNTUA, Ananthapuramu, organized One-Day Workshop on “Personal Risk
Management:Kapap”for the passing out girl students of JNTUA on 28thMarch 2015 in association with Inner
Wheel district 316. Prof.V. Sankar, Director, DFA & AM, JNTUA and other faculty members along with the
student participants attended the inaugural function. Ms. Dipti Shankar, Trainer from Fitcomb, New Delhi
trained119 girl students in this self defense technique.
 Entrepreneurship Development Programme Cell, JNTUA CEA organized an UGC Sponsored one-day Work-
Shop for IV B.Tech Students on “Entrepreneurial Initiatives for Budding Engineers”, on 14th August, 2015.
Prof K.Prahlada Rao, Principal, JNTUA CEA was the Chief Guest for the inaugural function. Prof.B.Eswara
Reddy, Vice-Principal of JNTUA CEA, Prof. V.Sankar, Director, DFA & AM, JNTUA , Prof. S.V.
Sathyanarayana, Director R&D, JNTUA and other faculty members attended the inaugural function. Sri
T.N.Kishore Reddy, VP & Managing Director India Operations at Meru Networks, Bangalore, Sri S.Rajesh, CEO,
Durga Automotives, Ananthapuramu, Sri. D.Sanjeeva Raju, Industrial Promotion Officer, District Industries
Centre, Ananthapuramu were the resource persons. 174 students were given the certificates.

 Entrepreneurship Development Programme Cell, JNTUA CEA organized an Orientation Programme for IV
B.Tech Students on “Technopreneurship and Building High Caliber Industry Ready Architects”, on 1st
September, 2015. Prof. V.Sankar, Director, DFA & AM, JNTUA graced the occasion and gave away mementoes
to the resource persons Sri T.B.Kishore, CEO and Founder (Alumnus of JNTU CEA) and Sri Venkat Annadata,
CTO, Mount Point Technologies Pvt. Ltd., Bangalore.
 Department ofPharmaceutical Sciences, OTRI-JNTUA had organised a one-day workshop on “Awareness on
Foreign university collaborations for Pharmacy courses”(6th August, 2015). More than 100 participants from
various institutions attended the workshop. The convener of the workshop was Prof.K.B.Chandra Sekhar.
 Mechanical Engineering Department of JNTUA CEA organized a "National Conference on Trends in Mechanical
Engineeringon" 23rd SEPTEMBER-2015.

MoUs

 Department of EEE, JNTUA CEA and Power Research and Development Consultants (P) Limited (PRDC),
Bangalore signed an MoU on 22-09-2015 to maintain Industry-Institute interaction in the field of Electrical

69th Independence Day Celebrations at JNTUA


69th Independence Day celebrations were held at JNTUA on 15th August 2015. Hon'ble Vice Chancellor i/c
Prof. H. Sudarsana Rao garlanded the portraits of Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru and B.R. Ambedkar at the
Administrative building of the University and paid tributes to the National leaders. Later, he received a guard of honor
from N.C.C Cadets after hoisting the National flag. Registrar, Directors of the University, Principals, staff and
students attended the event.

JNTUA CEA organized the Freshers' Day 2015 on 22.08.2015. Various Sports and Games were conducted for the
freshers' and prizes were distributed to the winners in the function held at Auditorium. Freshers' have participated in
the various cultural events. Hon'ble Vice-Chancellor i/c Prof. H. Sudarsana Rao was the Chief Guest of the function.

Inauguration of Texas Instruments Centre of Excellence at JNTUA CEP
Hon'ble Vice – Chancellor (I/C) of JNTUniversity Anantapur inaugurated Texas Instruments Centre of
Excellence at ECE Department of JNTUA College of Engineering Pulivendula on 04.09.2015 (F.N). Texas
instruments have provided the latest equipments worth Rs. 10,00,000/- (Ten lakhs only) for establishing a Centre of
Excellence in order to bridge gap between industry and academia. Principal, Vice - Principal, Heads of the
Department, Teaching & Non – teaching Staff, Engineering Section Staff attended the function.

 Department of CSE, GPREC organized a one-day National Level Workshop on “Awareness on NPTEL” on

members participated in the workhop.

Technology (DST), New Delhi during 28th – 30th September, 2015. Prof. P.S. Nagendra Rao, Dept. of Electrical

discovery and Nanobiotechnology: Challenges and opportunities” during 3rd and 4th of September, 2015. Dr.

Venkatraman, Professor, SRMC, Chennai, Dr. T.N.K.V. Prasad, Senior Scientist, ANG Ranga Agricultural

persons. The speakers enthralled the gathering with their expertise in nanobiotechnology. Around 600 students
participated in the seminar. The scientific session witnessed 27 oral presentations and 128 poster presentations.
 Venkateswara College of Pharmacy, RVS Nagar, Chittoor had organized a One-Day National Seminar on
“Alternative to Animal Use in Research, Education and Toxicity Investigations” (ARETI-2k15) sponsored by
ICMR, New Delhi on 22nd September 2015. About 330 students and 50 teachers participated in this Seminar. The
eminent speakers of the plenary sessions were Prof. Md. A. Akbarsha, Director of Mahatma Gandhi-Doerenkamp
Center (MGDC), Bharathidasan University, Tiruchirapalli, Dr.C.R.Patil, Professor, RC Patel Institute of

 J.N.T.University Anantapur, Ananthapuramu is leading as an example for ‘Sustainable Environment’ by
establishing a NURSERY in the University Campus, where around 2 Lakh saplings are getting ready for
plantation in the surroundings of Anantapur. Department of Forest, Govt. of Andhra Pradesh has sanctioned
Rs. 11,75,043-00 towards raising of MGVN Nurseries under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment
Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS). Department of Forest (Social Forests), Govt. of Andhra Pradesh is
executing the work.

at Narasimhapuram Villaga,Proddatur on 15/08/2015.In this camp blood samples from 100 Members were
collected and tested.

Villaga,Proddatur on 01/09/2015.In this medical camp, NSS Volunteers distributed Iron Tablets, Fever & Pain
killer tablets to the villages.

Blood Donation & Tree Plantation Programmes in the month of July & August 2015.
 The NSS Unit of Sri Venkateswara College of Pharmacy, RVS Nagar, Chittoor organized Blood Donation Camp
on 10th August 2015 in association with Indian Red Cross Society, Blood Bank, Chittoor. The programme was
inaugurated by Mrs. Annapurna, Additional Superintendent of Police, Chittoor and Mr. R.V. Srinivas, Vice
Chairman, Sri Venkateswara Group of Educational Institutions, RVS Nagar, Chittoor.

Self Defence Training Programme for Girl Students
National Service Scheme (NSS) Cell and Women Empowerment Cell jointly conducted a four-week self
defense training program for girl students from 25th July to 21st August 2015 at JNT university Anantapur. The
program was inaugurated by Honorable Vice Chancellor i/c Prof. H. Sudarsana Rao at Chemical Engineering
Department seminar hall. Prof. K. Prahlada Rao, Principal JNTUA presided over the function, Prof. S. Krishnaiah
Registrar listed out various methods to protect girls. Coach Mr. K. Shantharaj 3rd DAN Black Belt in Taekwondo
described the art of Taekwondo and how to protect ourselves by using hands and legs. Women Empowerment Cell
coordinator Prof. G. Prasanthi narrated the need of self defence training to the girl students. NSS program coordinator
Prof. M.L.S. Deva Kumar presented the plan of training and the reminded that UGC, AICTE & NSS are interested to
conduct such training programs. Chief Guest Prof H. Sudharsan Rao Honorable Vice Chancellor i/c appreciated the
efforts of NSS cell & Women Empowerment Cell for taking up this program. He advised all girl student to become
physically and mentally strong to face challenges in the society. The training went for 4 weeks in the University
premises and concluded on 21/08/2015 at college auditorium. Smt. Madamanchi Swaroopa Mayor of Anantapur
was the Chief Guest for the valedictory function. Participants demonstrated the art by showing various punches,
kicks, stances, combination kicks and tail breakings. The demonstration attracted huge applause from the audience.

Two-Day National
Seminar on Global Prospective in Pharmaceutical Sciences (GPPS2K15)
Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, OTRI-JNTUA had organized a two-day National seminar on “Global
Prospectives in Pharmaceutical Sciences” (GPPS2K15) on 11th July, 2015, at Department of Pharmacy, JNTUA,
Ananthapuramu. A.P.,India. More than 150 participants from various institutions attended the seminar.
Prof.H.Sudarsana Rao, Hon’ble VC (i/c)-JNTUA was the Chief Guest for inauguration, Dr.N.Lingaiah was Key
note speaker, Prof.S.Krishnaiah, Registrar, JNTUA was Chief Guest for Valedictory function. The convener of the
seminar was Prof.K.B.Chandra Sekhar, Co-Convenor was Dr.N.B.L.Prasad and the coordinator was Dr.P.Bharath
Rathna Kumar.
Awards and Distinctions conferred on Faculty
 Dr. M. Vijaya Kumar, Professor of EEE and Director of Admissions, JNTUA & Dr. N. Devanna, Principal,
JNTUA CEK received Andhra Pradesh State Government Best Teacher Awards for the year 2015. They received
the award from Hon’ble Chief Minister of AP, Sri. N. Chandra Babu Naidu garu on the occasion of Teachers day ,
conducted on Sept. 5th 2015 at Vizag.

 Prof. A. Ananda Rao, CSE Department, Professor, Received Best Paper Award for presenting a paper “Data
Driven Approaches for Pronunciation Adaptation Modeling in ASR systems”, at Indian Conference on Signal and
Image Processing, Nanded, during 10-11 July 2015.
