Zeta Tau Alpha hosts annual flag football tournament

Fraternity Zeta Tau Alpha hosts an annual flag football tournament to raise money toward breast

cancer awareness and education

Zeta Tau Alpha Fraternity at Elon University

will host a flag football tournament Oct. 27 to support

the fraternity’s national philanthropy, breast cancer

awareness and education. The tournament will take

place at the on- campus intramural sports fields from

4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Members of all fraternities and male social

groups are invited to participate, and all members of

the Elon school community are encouraged to attend and

support. All sisters of the Zeta Tau Alpha chapter will be present as either a team captain or a

supporter.

For the event, Zeta has asked a variety of males to sign up for teams. Each member of a

team gives a donation as an entry fee. These donations will be given to Zeta’s philanthropy, breast

cancer awareness and education, to help benefit individuals battling breast cancer.

There are seven teams in total and each team will be competing against one another for 20-minute

games. The winner of the tournament will receive a trophy as a reward.

“I’ve been planning this event since the end of summer,” event coordinator Ashley Gambrel

said. “A lot of hard work has been put into this event, so I’m really excited to see how it turns out. I

hope everyone has a great time.”

Another sister, senior Julia Garcia said, “This event has always been a hit in the past years.

It’s a great way to get people together to do something fun that will ultimately help support a

worthy cause.”

Established in 1954, the Zeta Tau Alpha foundation has partnered with the American Cancer

Society, National Football League and Bright Pink. Zeta Tau Alpha chapter holds many events at

Elon University working toward its philanthropy, breast cancer awareness and education. To learn
