Tutorial & Sewing patterns

Baby Sandals 3
WELCOME
Thank you for purchasing this tutorial and patterns. The model that I
am presenting came from my personal experience of designing and
sewing baby shoes.
We have a baby shoes Stores in Spain, México and USA since 2006.
I hope you enjoy it as much as I do!

HOW TO PRINT
Some printers scale the page to fit their settings.

1. Make sure you are printing the patterns


WITHOUT scale.
2. Select print the patterns in A4 SHEET.
3. Check test line to make sure they printed correctly.

checked so they don’t loose items that can present a chocking hazard.

MATERIALS
Start by gathering all the material you will need. Bear in mind that the size of the
fabrics indicated in this guide corresponds to the size after shrinkage with the first
wash (fabrics can shrink between 0% to 10% of its size, according to the type of
fabric). So I recommend you wash and iron all the fabrics before you start working.
The insoles are optional

FABRIC
Interfacing for the main fabric (Use pellon craft-fuse)
Fat quarter of main fabric
Fat quarter of lining fabric
Scrap pieces for sole
Scrap pieces for bows, flowers, (optional)
Pieces for insole (optional)
Velcro

SEWING SUPPLIES
- SCISSORS, PINS, NEEDLE, IRON, PEN OR PENCIL, THREAD, SEWING MACHINE (OP-
CIONAL)

PATTERNS
Identify which pattern’s size should be chosen for your baby.
Measure the foot of the baby (place the foot on a sheet of paper, mark the outline
and measure the length) and add 1 cm / 3/8’’.
After having chosen the size, print the pages related to the pattern.

Step 1
PLEASE READ ** HOW TO PRINT ** page 1.
Print the patterns and cut out on the black lines. All the pieces include seam allow-
ance.

Step 2
Fuse interfacing to main fabric. Leave a piece without interfacig for the strips.
Fuse interfacing to a piece of lining fabric, JUST for the sole.

Step 3
Use the patterns to draw on the fabrics. Then draw the outline of the instep and the
special marks (junction; elastic/ribbons). Cut out each piece by the outline. All the
pieces INCLUDE seam allowance. 1/4” (6 mm).

You should have 14 pieces total.


4 pieces / body main fabric with interfacing
4 pieces / body lining fabric
2 pieces / strips (without interfacing)
4 pieces /soles with interfacing

Step 4
STRIPS
Fold the piece in 4 , as indicated, and iron flat.
Folding one of the edges and placing there a piece of velcro.
Sew around of all the strip.

Step 5
BODY
Sew back piece right sides facing and placing the band between them as shown in the
image.
Turn it right, sew it all around

Step 6
Sew front pieces, right sides facing. Sewing only on the straight side. Turn it out.

Step 7
With right sides facing, join front and back to sole , aligning centers as shown.
Make sure you are placing the correct left or right sole accoding to the position of
the band.

Step 8
Take the counterpart of the sole, align centers and fix it with pins, leaving the sandal
body.
Sew all around, just leaving open 1 1/2 inch aprox where the band is to be able to
turn it out.

Step 9
With right sides facing at heel, sew ends together leaving 1/4” (6 mm) seam allow-
ance. When you have finished sewing, press the seam open ironing it until it is as flat
as possible.

Step 10
Sew velcro counterpart.
Repeat steps for the other shoe, making sure you place the strip in the opposite
side.
You can decorate the shoe with ribbons , flowers , buttons . BE CREATIVE!
