Professional surveyors are reminded that they ‘owe a duty of care to their clients to use terms that are well defined and unambiguous. For the description of property and premises, professional surveyors ate strongly advised to follow this Code for the definition and application of the measurement terms to achieve consistency and to promote understanding. It shall be the area contained ‘within the encl 1g walls of the unit measured up to the exterior face of an external wall or the centre line of separating wall between adjoining units, as the ease may be. Enclosing walls separating a unit from a lightwel, a ift shaft or any similar vertical shaft, or 4 common area, shall be deemed an external wall and its full thickness shall be included.
