Breakaway Switches:
Breakaway Switches area required for trailers having a
gross weight of 1500 or more. They are designed to
activate trailer brakes if the tow vehicle becomes
separated from the trailer. If equipment becomes
separated a pin inside the breakaway switch is pulled free
activating the trailer brakes.
