Project Transfer

Project Transfer

¾ Overview:
– This module explains how to send and receive data to and from
an AGP.
– Many of these methods are also available for LT, AST or WinGP
targets
¾ Objective:
– At the end of this module you can:
• Transfer projects using a Download Cable
• Transfer projects using CF Card or USB Memory
• Transfer data between PC and CF Card/USB Memory
• Use the AGP Offline Menu for data transfer
• Secure Data Transfer by setting a password
• Find Modem and Serial download information
• Send a web server to the AGP

Transferring Data

¾ To start data transfer select the “Transfer Project” step


from the 5 step main toolbar or use the “Project, Transfer
Project” menu

Transfer Tool

¾ The transfer tool allows you to:


– Send and receive project files
– Compare the editor and the AGP project
– Get information about the AGP
– Create a transfer CF Card
– Create transfer USB Memory
– Send and Receive files to and
from a CF Card in the AGP
– Send a Webpage to CF Card

Selecting a download unit

¾ Whenever a connection is made using the LAN option


(Ethernet) the select display unit window is displayed.
¾ Check all AGP’s to connect to.
– Downloading can only be done to units of the same model as
selected in the project .
¾ If the IP Address is not listed at status “End Search” it
can be added manually by using “Add”

Transfer Settings (USB & Ethernet)

¾ Connecting via USB cable requires cable CA3-


USBCB-01 and the selection of the “USB” option
in Transfer Settings.
¾ When connecting via Ethernet (using
Hub/Switch, etc or Cross Cable) select “LAN”
– LAN Auto setting will have the PC search the network
for available AGP’s
– If you are connecting through a
router (which may block traffic)
the PASV option can be set
to allow downloading.

Transfer Settings (Modem & Serial)

¾ Serial and Modem downloads and uploads can not be


used for new units. An initial download has to be done
first.
¾ Refer to the Reference Manual for the cable diagram for
the Serial Cable
¾ Modem Transfer requires a modem for each AGP,
multiple phone numbers can be registered to easily
select different
locations to
connect to.

Project Download

¾ Use the “Send Project” button to download a project file


from the PC to the AGP.
¾ If a transfer password was set a popup window will
appear.
¾ If the system settings
are changed you are
asked to confirm the
changes.

Project Upload

¾ Use the “Receive Project” button to upload a project file


from the PC to the AGP.
¾ If a transfer password was set a popup window will
appear.
¾ When asked select the
upload file location and
name.

Project Comparison

¾ Use the “Project Compare” button to compare the project


file downloaded to the AGP to the file opened in the GP-
Pro EX Editor.
¾ Both screen and logic differences will be shown in the
Comparison window.

Project Information

¾ The project information button displays details


about the project downloaded to the AGP as well
as the AGP Firmware version and details about
the screens, common settings and logic
downloaded to the unit.

CF Card Connection

¾ Use the CF Card Connection button to transfer data to


and from a CF Card in an AGP.
– In Online mode data can be taken off the
CF Card and send to the PC
– In Offline mode data can be transferred
between the CF Card and the PC.

Memory Loader

¾ The Memory Loader prepares a CF Card or USB


Memory stick for project transfer.
¾ To make a bootable image follow these steps:
– Create Backup File (1)
– Select CF Card or USB Location
– Create Boot Data (2)
– Select CF Card or USB Location
– Overwrite data when asked
¾ You can check a previously 1

created boot file using Confirm

a boot image into a PRX

¾ Boot data saved to CF Card using the memory loader


can be transferred to the AGP in 2 ways:
– Power down the AGP, set DIP Switch 1 to ON, insert the CF
Card, power up the AGP.
– Power down the AGP, Insert the CF Card and power up the
AGP. Display the AGP System Menu by touching the upper right
hand and lower left hand corners of the AGP screen in rapid
succession. Touch the “CF/USB” button and select CF_Starting.
The AGP will now reboot
¾ If boot data is present on the CF Card using either
method will result in the display of the Memory Loader
Tools page.

Transfer Project via USB Memory

¾ Boot data saved to USB memory using the memory


loader can be transferred to the AGP:
– Insert the USB Memory stick. Display the AGP System Menu by
touching the upper right hand and lower left hand corners of the
AGP screen in rapid succession. Touch the “CF/USB” button
and select USB_Starting. The AGP will now reboot.
¾ If boot data is present on the USB Memory stick the
Memory Loader Tools page will be displayed.
¾ Note that the USB Memory Loader cannot be used on a
new unit that has not been downloaded to.

¾ On the Memory Loader Tools


page select to option to upload
or download a project file.
¾ If a transfer password is set
it will have to be entered before
a file can be up or downloaded.
¾ Multiple project files may be
stored in different folders on the
removable media.
¾ New files can be created to
back up a project currently
downloaded to the AGP.

AGP Offline Menu

¾ The AGP can be placed in a state where it will


accept downloads while in offline mode.
– On any other screen in offline
mode the AGP cannot accept
LAN, USB or Serial downloads.
– This function is useful if the
panel cannot be online yet
(duplicate node address, etc)
and needs to be downloaded
to while already connected
to a PLC or other Device.

SRAM Backup

¾ Use the AGP Offline menu to backup all data in


SRAM to a CF Card. This data will be erased
during any project download.
– Useful when recipes are stored in SRAM and were
changed by an operator.
¾ After transfer use the CF to SRAM function to
restore the SRAM data.
¾ Note that all data on the
CF Card will be erased.
– Use a different CF Card or
USB memory for project files

Transfer Password Protection

¾ Uploads and Downloads (Cable or Card) can be


password protected.
¾ Use the “Project, Information, Passwords” menu to enter
or remove a password.
¾ After setting a password download to the AGP, every
subsequent download now requires
entering the password.
¾ Leave the password blank to
remove password protection
and download to the panel.

Send Webserver

¾ Select the folder in


which your CF card
is installed and copy
all Files and
directories to the
location.

¾ Web server setup is


covered in another
module.

Forced Transfer

¾ If a download does not complete correctly the AGP may


get to a state where downloads are no longer accepted.
Option 1 – Forced Download by Touch
¾ If this is the case the panel can
be put in “Forced Download”.
– Option 1: power down the panel,
hold the lower left hand corner
while powering up the AGP.
– Option 2: power down the panel,
set DIP Switch 2 in to ON, Option 2 – Forced download by DIP Switch

power up the panel.


– Continue with an Ethernet or USB
download.
(reset DIP Switch 2 when done)
