Greetings from the youth of Puerto Princesa City!

International Youth Day (IDY) is an awareness day designated by the United Nations in 1999 with
adoption of Resolution 54/120. The purpose of the day is to draw attention to a given set of cultural and
legal issues surrounding youth. It is observed annually, a week-long celebration, starting on the 12th day
of August. In connection to this and by virtue of the Republic Act 10742, the youth of the Philippines will
be celebrating the Linggo ng Kabataan (LNK). It is a celebration wherein there will be different activities
such as workshop, cultural events and activities that involve the youth. Through this celebration, it helps
empower the youth.

The theme for this year’s International Youth Day 2019 is “Transforming Education”. It aims to
highlights efforts to make education more inclusive and accessible for all youth, including efforts by
youth themselves. It is rooted in Goal 4 of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development – to “ensure
inclusive and equitable education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all”.

The Sangguniang Kabataan Federation, as the highest organization of Sangguniang Kabataan (SK)
Officials within the jurisdiction of Puerto Princesa City, aims to conduct various activities associated to
this year’s theme. It is a week-long celebration that will start on August 11 up to August 17. An
information campaign for the execution of City Ordinance No. 993, otherwise known as “An
Ordinance Regulating the Utilization of Single Use Plastic and Polystyrene Foam in the City of
Puerto Princesa, and Providing Penalties for Violations Thereof”, and an upcoming total ban on
February 11, 2020, at various conspicuous public places within the City will become part of the
activities for the week.

For we believe that your organization have the same interest with us in this platform, we would like to
invite the Rotaract Club of Puerto Princesa to be our major partner towards achieving this
objective. Your help would be a great chunk in concluding this activity a success.
