Topic: School
People with high intelligence possesses an ability that is outstandingly higher than
the average IQ level or intelligent quotient, which is a scoring method for measuring
human intelligence. These people also have different personality traits that are not
associated with their features of knowledge, which usually makes them misunderstood
and mistreated by other people. Because of these, their gifts or intellectual talents are not
being utilized, and they rarely achieve their creative potential.
One of the most common problem that highly gifted people are experiencing is that
they often socialize with people and end up being outcasted by the majority. An example
of this is the first unit of learning, which is school. According to the National Association
for Gifted Children, gifted education and accelerated programs will help them to achieve
their maximum potential and positively influence their future. In the Philippines, the
Department of Education is developing its first national gifted education curriculum
standards because most of the programs for the gifted are adapted from overseas.
Currently, the country does not have an institution that will hone the skills of highly gifted
people of all ages. Having a facility that is not only for gifted children but also for adults
with intellectual talents will be an enormous support for their mental growth and
development.
This study will explain the behavior of a highly intelligent person and to understand
their needs in spaces that will be interpreted through architectural design. Study says that
home environment for Filipinos with gifted minds will profoundly affect their development.
Examining how the environment affects people, especially the bright ones that will help
them grow and develop abilities will be studied. The proposed Institute for Intelligent and
Gifted People will be based on a different kind of studies and data that will be the
foundation for this proposal.
