“KADAYAWAN FESTIVAL”

The Kadayawan Festival is an annual festival in the city of Davao in

the Philippines. Its name derives from the friendly greeting "Madayaw",
from the Dabawenyo word "dayaw", meaning good, and valuable, superior
or beautiful. The festival is a celebration of life, a thanksgiving for the gifts
of nature, the wealth of culture, the bounties of harvest and serenity of
living. It is held every third week of August. However, there are advantages
and disadvantages of it.

ADVANTAGES OF HAVING KADAYAWAN FESTIVAL IN DAVAO CITY:

1. They make a chance to populace of city to impart their inclination

and trade their thoughts by having ad showing their different
activities such as Pamulak sa Kadayawan, Indak-Indak sa
Kadayawan and so on that they prepared for the residents and the
tourists despite the recent security threats in several areas in
Mindanao.
2. They will discover or gather information about the history, tradition,
practices, struggles and celebrations of the various tribes and
indigenous people that are the original inhabitants of Mindanao and
its famous featured Durian as a part of the celebration.
3. They also took the opportunity to remind the people about
discriminatory behavior towards indigenous people such as
Lumads and Moros and open their mind to embrace those.
4. For the families and friends they will assemble and have a great
time. It will also build social relation and social correspondence
which prompts solidarity among individuals.
5. To meet other people, at the same time helping saving society and
their legacy.
