Hazardous characteristics
1. Fire Hazard
2. Aspiration Hazard
3. Land/ water pollution if spilled/leaked accidently
Storage Requirement
A. Storage Location
1. Area must be free from heat, sparks or ignition source and well ventilated.
2. Explosion proof Electrical Arrangements.
3. Keep foam type, Dry Chemical Extinguishers and sand buckets at storage area.
4. Area must be prohibited for eating, drinking and smoking activity.
5. Only Authorized Entry. (Lock System)
B. Store conditions
1. Keep in original container and tightly close when not in use in allocated area
2. Separate empty and full containers.
Handling Requirement
1. Use PPE- Cotton/polyester Apron, Rubber Gloves, Nose mask, Safety goggles, Safety shoes
2. Use of funnels, drip trays while transferring fuel from barrel to containers to avoid spillage on ground
Ways of Exposure
1. Oral
2. Dermal
3. Inhalation
Symptoms on Exposure
1. Eye Contact- Pain/ irritation, watering, redness
2. Skin Contact- Irritation, Redness
3. Inhalation- Nausea/ vomiting, Headache, Drowsiness, vertigo/ dizziness, unconsciousness
4. Ingestion- Nausea, vomiting
Note: 1. First Aiders shall not give mouth to mouth respiration and call for medical attention as soon as possible.
2. Water used for washing body or equipment shall not be drained in common sewage lines.
