EMERGENCY DRUG LIST

Emergency medicine is a medical specialty involving care for adult and pediatric patients with acute
illnesses or injuries that require immediate medical attention.
The following is a list of conditions that constitute a possible medical emergency and may require
immediate first aid, emergency room care, surgery, or care by a physician or nurse. Not all medical
emergencies listed below are life-threatening; some conditions require medical attention in order to
prevent significant and long-lasting effects on physical or mental health.
INJURY AND ILLNESS.
Appendicitis (leading to peritonitis)
Ballistic trauma (gunshot wound)
Crohn's disease, severe (possible obstruction, perforation)
Head trauma
Hypothermia or frostbite
Intestinal obstruction, Fulminant colitis
Pancreatitis

POISONING.
Food poisoning, Venomous animal bite, Pharmacological overdose, Botanical
Severe burn: (including scalding and chemical burns)
Spreading wound infection
Traumatic brain injury
acute epitasis
Spinal disc herniation
Sudden Sensor neural hearing loss (SSHL, or just SHL, which may become permanent unless treated
promptly.)
INFECTIONS:
Bacterial Meningitis
Ear infection (can occur with Sudden Sensor neural hearing loss (SSHL, or just SHL), which may become
permanent unless treated promptly.)
CARDIAC:
Cardiac arrhythmia, Cardiac arrest, Ventricular Fibrillation (VF)
Paroxysmal Supra Ventricular Tachycardia (PSVT) / Supra Ventricular Tachycardia (SVT)
Myocardial Infarction (MI) (heart attack), Hypertensive emergency, Ventricular Tachycardia (VT)
METABOLIC:
Diabetic coma, Diabetic ketoacidosis, hypoglycemic coma
Electrolyte disturbance, severe (along with dehydration, possible with severe diarrhea or vomiting,
chronic laxative abuse, and severe burns), Hypercalcemic crisis, Dehydration.
Hepatic Encephalopathy:
Malnutrition and starvation (as in extreme anorexia and bulimia)
Thyroid storm
Neurological and Neurosurgical:
Cerebrovascular accident (stroke)
Convulsion or seizure, no history or unusual, Status epileptic us, Meningitis
Acute spinal cord compression, Narcoleptic Malignant Syndrome, Status migrainosus
Psychiatric:
Psychotic episode
Homicidal ideation, Attempted suicide, non-fatal
Respiratory:
Agonal breathing, Asphyxia, Choking, Drowning, Hypoglycemic coma, Air embolism (Arterial)
Pneumothorax, Pulmonary embolism, Respiratory failure, Asthma, acute, hypoglycemic coma
Shock:
Carcinogenic shock, Anaphylaxis, Hypovolemic shock (due to hemorrhage), Neutrogena shock
Obstructive shock (e.g., massive pulmonary embolism or Cardiac tamponade), Septic shock
Prolapsed cord, Shoulder dystocia
Urological, Anthological, and Gynecologic:
Acute Prostitutes, Puerperal sepsis Obstetrics [edit], Ectopic pregnancy, Eclampsia Pre-eclampsia, Fetal
distress, Obstetrical hemorrhage, Placental abruption
Gynecologic hemorrhage, Ovarian to rupture, Sexual assault (rape)
Ureteric, Urinary retention, Testicular torsion, Testicular infarction. rsion, Uterine
