IN THIS ALERT SERVICE BULLETIN ARE INTENDED
FOR MAINTENANCE PERSONNEL AND FLIGHT CREWS.

1. PLANNING INFORMATION

1.A. EFFECTIVITY

1.A.1. Helicopters/Installed equipment: Helicopters:


- equipped with an APC 200-ampere starter generator P/N 200SGL130Q,
and
- not modified per modification 073345 (limitation label specifying the
intensity that can be drawn from the APC 200 A starter generator).

NOTE

This ALERT SERVICE BULLETIN does not apply to


helicopters equipped with a THALES / AUXILEC 200-
ampère starter generator.

1.B. ASSOCIATED REQUIREMENTS

Not applicable.

1.C. REASON

Defining the new limitation for the APC 200-ampere starter generator.

The purpose of revision 1 of this ALERT SERVICE BULLETIN which will form the subject of an EASA
Airworthiness Directive is to provide complementary information in order to facilitate compliance with this
ALERT SERVICE BULLETIN.

Revision 1 of this ALERT SERVICE BULLETIN does not affect compliance with revision 0.

1.D. DESCRIPTION

Revision 0:
The power consumed by the starter generator is limited to prevent the engine surge margin being reduced.

The maximum continuous intensity that can be drawn from the APC 200-ampere starter generator must be
limited to 180 amperes.

Consequently, EUROCOPTER rendered compliance with revision 0 of this ALERT SERVICE BULLETIN,
issued on August 10, 2006, mandatory. It stipulates that you must:
- limit the intensity that can be drawn from the starter generator (pilot action),
- bond a label specifying the new starter generator limitation, below the VEMD.

Revision 1:
Revision 1 of this ALERT SERVICE BULLETIN incorporates the following information:
- part number of the affected APC 200-ampere starter generator added to EFFECTIVITY paragraph 1.A.,
- the term “load” is replaced with “intensity that can be drawn”,
- additional information enabling Customers to make the label which specifies the new limitation,
- the new limitation added to paragraph 2.D.
- language of the labels, added to paragraph 3.C.

1.E. COMPLIANCE

EUROCOPTER renders compliance with this ALERT SERVICE BULLETIN mandatory.

1.E.1. At the works

1.E.1.a. On helicopters: Comply with paragraph 2.B before delivery.

1.E.1.b. On spares: Not applicable.

1.E.2. Retrofit action: By the operator.

1.E.2.a. On helicopters: The following measures are mandatory as of receipt of revision 0 of this ALERT SERVICE
BULLETIN issued on August 10, 2006.

- As from receipt of revision 0 of this ALERT SERVICE BULLETIN issued


on August 10, 2006, the new limitation for the intensity that can be drawn from
APC 200-ampere starter generators becomes 180 amperes.

NOTE

You must inform the flight crews of this new limitation.

- Comply with paragraph 2.B. within 110 flight hours or 12 months, the first limit reached is
applicable, following receipt of revision 0 of this ALERT SERVICE BULLETIN issued
on August 10, 2006.

1.E.2.b. On spares: Not applicable.

Approval is limited to civil version helicopters subject to an Airworthiness Certificate.

The information or instructions relate to MOD 073345 which was approved on July 13, 2006.

The technical information contained in revision 0 of ALERT SERVICE BULLETIN No. 04A002 was approved
on August 9, 2006 under the authority of EASA Design Organization Approval No. 21J.056.

The technical information contained in revision 1 of ALERT SERVICE BULLETIN No. 04A002 was approved
on September 14, 2006 under the authority of EASA Design Organization Approval No. 21J.056.

Qualification: 1 mechanic
Time: approximately 15 minutes.

Record compliance with this ALERT SERVICE BULLETIN in the aircraft documents.

2.D. OPERATING AND MAINTENANCE INSTRUCTIONS

2.D.1. Operating Instructions

The new limitation for the intensity that can be drawn from APC 200-ampere starter generators referenced in
paragraph 1.A., is 180 amperes.
The Flight Manual will be updated subsequently.

2.D.2. Maintenance Instructions

Check that the starter generator limitation label is in place.
