Summary for the SSN Gas Interface

Management Unit (IMU)
Introduction
ANSI B109 is a basic standard for safe operation and substantial and durable construction for diaphragm
and rotary-type gas displacement meters and regulators. The standard consists of B109.1 – B109.4
which applies to various flow rates and types of meters and devices for gas measurement. The standard
is designed to help ensure efficient performance and substantial construction of equipment. As this is
the most common standard for gas measurement devices, SSN’s gas AMI products are tested and
approved to the applicable parts of the standard.

This summary document and associated exhibits provides a summary of the testing and approvals for
SSN’s Gas IMU products and the associated test report artifacts as requested by ConEd for PSC of NY
Approval of the GAS IMU for AMI.

Note: ANSI B109 is the Gas Measurement equivalent to the ANSI C12 standards for Electricity metering.

Applicable B109 Standards and Testing Matrix
The SSN Gas Interface Management Unit (IMU) is considered an AUXILLIARY DEVICE in the B109
standard. AUXILLIARY DEVICES are defined as devices used with a meter to provide an adjustment of the
meter reading, to permit obtaining special information, or to transmit information to a remote location.

The following B109 standard sections were identified by the PSC as relevant to the use of the SSN Gas
IMU for AMI applications. The following table lists the associated standards with notes regarding
applicability to IMU models, and reference to the associated test report Exhibits. Note that additional
test references are also listed for other B109 and C12.1 tests that were also performed.
