THEORY:-
2. MEDIAN: - Median of ungrouped data arrange all observation either in ascending order or
descending order. It is the middle most number of the set of the data.
n+1
Median (for odd number of observations) = ( )
2
n+1 n
)+
(
2 2
Median (for even number of observations) =
2
3. MODE: - Mode for an ungrouped data, mode is the value that appears most frequently in a
set of data.
PROCEDURE: -
Measure the length and diameter of the specimen.
Note down the reading in a table in MS Excel in mm.
Repeat the above step upto 50 different Screws and nails.
Calculate mean, median, mode, standard deviation and variance of the obtained table.
PREACAUTIONS: -
1. Use parallax method to take readings on scale.
2. Take the readings carefully.
RESULT: -
Data collected for the different wires are given below:-
Length of wires: -
Mean: 40.71 mm
Mode: 40 mm
Median: 37.5 mm
Standard Deviation: 8.73410246 mm
Variance: 76.2845458 mm2
Diameter of wires: -
Mean: 3.93 mm
Mode: 4 mm
Median: 4 mm
Standard Deviation:1.45508831 mm
Variance: 2.117282 mm2
