Workshop: Getting started as a translator

As part of your English Learning Process, it is important to get familiar with technical
vocabulary in order to be able to translate short pieces of texts containin technical
information.
A. Getting familiar with thechnical vocabulary
After revising the vocabulary in the material “Strategic framework: developing
guidelines”, read the given definitions and complete the followig crossword.

Answer the following questions.
1. According to your experience, which steps did you follow to complete the
different translations?

For I can complete the different translations in this text I had to understand
what is the topic I´m reading and identified the subject, adjective, verb,
complement, and the others part of the oration for I could write it great in
Spanish.

2. According to your experience, do you consider that translation is a complex


activity? Explain.

As any other activity translation has difficultness as look carefully the order
of the phrase because in English it has an specific order and you have to
follow it. Additionally some words have more than one significate and is a
little confused.

3. What do you think is necessary to do a correct translation?

Is necessary have a lot of vocabulary and the correct order in each


sentence.

4. According to your experience, what is the most difficult aspect about


translation?
The order in every phrase because I’m accustomed to say two or three
phrases in different order to express the same thing in Spanish but in English the
order has a particularly for each type of sentence.
