 LUTUNG KASARUNG
Narator : Long time ago, there was a king named Prabu Tapa Agung.
Prabu Tapa Agung was an old king. He had two daughters, Purbararang
and Purbasari. Prabu Tapa Agung planned to retire as a king. He wanted
Purbasari to replace him as the leader of the kingdom. Hearing this,
Purbararang was angry.
Purbararang : you can not ask her to be the queen, father. I’m older
than she is. It’s supposed to be me. Not her. It’s impossible, father!!!!
Prabu Tapa Agung : No. Purbararang, No. it’s because I love you and I
choose purbasari as the queen because she is only one who deserves to
be queen. After all, she your little sister.
Purbararang : No, Father. It’s hurt me.
Narator : purbararang then set a bad plan with her fiancé, Indrajaya.
They went to a wich together and asked her to put a spell on Purbasari.
Then they gave her a bowl of drinks and told purbasari to drink it. Later,
purbasari had a bad skin. There were a black dots aa over her body.
Purbasari : oh my God, what happen with my skin, my body, my face,
and my breathe.
Purbararang : Hahaha… !!! you are not as beautiful as I am. You
cannot be the queen. Instead, you have to leave this place and stay in a
jungle.
Narator : Purbasari was very sad. Now she had to stay in the jungle.
Everyday she spent her time playing with some animals there. There war
one Monkey that always tried to cheer her up. It was not just an ordinary
Monkey, he had magical power. And he also could talk with humans.
The monkey’s name was Lutung Kasarung. He was actually a god. His
name was Sanghyang Gurumina. Lutung Kasarung planned to help
Purbasari. He made a small lake and asked her to take a bath there.
Lutung Kasarung : My Princess, I’ll help you get back to the place.
Purbasari : thank you, Lutung. You’re very good. But how can I go
back to the place? While my body is smell and disgusting.
Lutung Kasarung : Never say Never, Princess. You only need to bath
in the small lake which I have made.
Narator : Amazingly, her bad skin was cured. Now she got her beautiful
skin back. After that, she asked Lutung Kasarung to accompany her to
go back to the place. Purbararang was very shocked. She knew she had
to come up with another bad idea.
Purbararang : those who have longer hair will be the queen.
Narator : The King then measured his daughters hair. Purbararang. But
Purbararang did not give up.
Purbararang : a queen must have a handsome husband. If my fiancé is
more handsome than yours, then I will be the queen.
Narator : Purbasari was sad. She knew Purbararang fiancé. Indrajaya
was handsome. And she did not have a fiancé yet.
Purbararang : Here is my fiancé, Indrajaya. Where is yours?
Narator : Lutung Kasarung came forward. Purbararang was laughing
very hard.
Purbararang : Your fiancé is a monkey, Hahaha.
Lutung Kasarung : Do not worry, my princess. I have a good idea.
Narator : Suddenly, Lutung Kasarung changed into a very handsome
man. He was even more handsome than Indrajaya. Purbararang and
Indrajaya very surprised. Purbasari then became the queen. She forgave
Prbararang and her fiancé and let them stay in the place. Purbasari then
became the queen and merried to Lutung Kasarung.
