TEACHING PRACTICE I - II

CLASS PROJECT

TITLE: Lapbook

EDUCATIVE INSTITUTION: I.E Antonio Ricaurte

STUDENT-TEACHER NAME: Karen Melisa Cuellar Muñoz

GENERAL OBJECTIVE: To teach basic English vocabulary in a creative way based on

suggested curriculum.
SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES:
 To increase vocabulary through writing, drawing and coloring.
 To encourage students to put into practice the target language.
 To develop English language skills in a natural, stress-free way.
 To test skills in fun, interesting and varied ways.
DESCRIPTION OF THE ACTIVITY:

Typically, lapbooks are a collection of related mini-books on a certain subject that have been
glued into a file folder for easy viewing, but they can also include pictures or projects that
students have completed. Lapbooking causes students to interact with the materials instead
of just responding to comprehension questions.

Lapbooks are extremely versatile because they can be used in conjunction with any subject
or topic which students are learning about. Therefore, the use of Lapbooks is an excellent
strategy to learn vocabulary with elementary and secondary students because it is about
writing, drawing and coloring. Also, it helps students to develop visual intelligence because
they must represent the word as an image. In addition, as it is known, putting the word into
an image in the mind requires visualization, memory, manipulation of mental images and
organization of thoughts.

How is it going to be developed?

Students are going to make a Lapbook for each topic seen in the classroom. In this way, the
ST is going to give students a worksheet which is going to be developed individually. Once it
is finished, students are going to receive a rainbow paper which they are going to fold and then
paste each point developed in the worksheet. Finally, each student is going to present his/her
Lapbook in front of the class. In the other hand, the learners’ Lapbooks are going to be checked
when the class finishes in order to have a report about their process. Hence, the task-based
approach is going to be implemented in order to students perform meaningful tasks to enhance
the vocabulary domain.
