Sapot in Masungi Georeserve By Paolo Cuarteron

Masungi Georeserve, a conservation area and rock garden tucked away in the
rainforests of Rizal, is a great back-to-nature weekend getaway, offering outdoor
enthusiasts the "Discovery trail," a three to four-hour trekking adventure to explore the
area's karst terrain, ideal for all skill levels. The trail is lined with rocks and concrete
blocks, and one has to cross a hanging bridge. Attractions include Sapot, a sturdy web-
style viewing platform that provides a breathtaking view of the biggest lake in the
Philippines, Laguna de Bay; Tatay(father) and Nanay (mother), the two tallest peaks in
the area; Yungib (cave) ni Ruben, a cave that is part of a karst
landscape; Patak (raindrop), an air house perched on a tree where one can view the
cactus garden below; Duyan (hammock), is a big hammock for guests to laze in and
enjoy the scenery; and Liwasan or park, a valley-like area with ponds.
