WHAT IS WORK BREAKDOWN

STRUCTURE?

 A work breakdown structure is a key project deliverable that

organizes the team's work into manageable sections.
 The Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK) defines the
work breakdown structure as a "deliverable oriented hierarchical
decomposition of the work to be executed by the project team."
 The work breakdown structure visually defines the scope into
manageable chunks that a project team can understand, as each level
of the work breakdown structure provides further definition and data.
 A complex project is made manageable by first breaking it down into
individual components in a hierarchical structure.

1. Looking on the outputs from Session 2, identify what
are the Activities to be done to complete the identified
structures/parts (deliverables)?
2. On the meta-cards, write your ideas and post on the
board and below each structures/parts.
 All participants are encouraged to write and post

1. The community project could be subdivided into
deliverables (several structures or parts).
2. Under each deliverables are activities to be done to complete
the deliverable.
3. Some activities has sub-activity/ies. These sub-activities are
called Tasks. and
4. Now, you may observe that Activities and Tasks are all stated
in VERB form.

If the cards are to be organized properly from the sub-
project (name of sub-project) to several structures
(deliverables) and under those are the activities and
tasks,
then you have completed your so called
Work Breakdown Structures (WBS).
