NARRATIVE

When Mr. Dev was bringing out the Equipment for corn hole Iram said, “I aint playing that”. He
asked if he could play basketball. I told him he had to participate in the scheduled activity then
after 30 minutes he would have the option basketball. I told him he would have to walk laps until
then. He said ok then walked a couple laps. Iram asked if he could play the next game. He
jumped in the game that was currently being played and he played that game. He lost that game
so he said he would sit out and would play the winner of the game. He was talking to Para
Amanda and myself. He sat on the floor to fix his shoes while he was waiting for the next game.
When the game ended I asked Iram if he was ready to play. He shook his head jokingly and
smiled. I was holding out the beanbags while Iram was slowly getting up. Then Mr. Dev said
“Iram, Up, Up, hurry”. Iram then became upset by the way Mr. Dev just spoke to him and did
not get up to play the game. He just stayed there staring at the group as I attempted to get him to
play the game. He did not say anything as I spoke with him. He seemed upset so I asked for the
rover to come out and give him time in the pod to cool off. When I went to the pod to speak with
Iram I asked him if there was going to be any issues with himself or Mr. Dev or myself. He said
no. He paid his fine and returned to P.E. I spoke with regarding the situation on why he let it get
to him. HE said “I don’t like the way Mr. Dev talks to me”.

He wasn’t upset with staff or the program he was going to participate in the activity but Mr. Dev
spoke to Iram in a way that Iram felt wasn’t very respectful.
