The crosslinking agent play avital role, which react with the hydroxyl group of cellulose, and forms
the ester bond between the cyclic anhydride ring and also with the carboxylic group of the active
substances in the herbal extract. Thus, the citric acid cross links the two macromolecules
effectively, resulting in an improvement of the crosslinking between the extract and the cotton
material.
