Dear parents/guardians,

My name is Katie Jambard-Orn and I will be your son/daughter’s teacher for either a full year of English 3, AP
Language and Composition, or Language Arts Intervention-Wilson Reading. Your child is currently taking one (or more)
of the following classes with me:

Period A: English 3
Period C: English 3
Period D: AP English Language & Composition
Period E: English 3
Period G: Language Arts Intervention- Wilson Reading
Considering that I will be your student’s teacher for some duration of the school year, I feel it necessary to
introduce myself by way of this letter. This will be my sixth year teaching here at Tourtellotte Memorial High School and
I’m genuinely pleased to be back for what I can only imagine will be another wonderful and productive school year. I will
be completing my Masters this year at the University of Saint Joseph in the area of Curriculum and Instruction, and look
forward to implementing my newfound knowledge in the classroom. I am a resident of Putnam, and have been for a
little over four years now. This move enabled me to become far more involved in after school activities and allowed me
the opportunity to provide even more after school help to my students. I encourage your children to join me after school
for extra help, or to involve themselves in the wonderful clubs and activities that Tourtellotte has to offer.

I make myself available both before and after school, as well as periods B and F during school hours, for
whatever the reason. I ask that students take advantage of the opportunity for extra help or support and I encourage
you to reiterate to your child that I am available if they must see me for any reason. I can be reached through my school
email at kjambard@thompsonpublicschools.org and can also be reached by phone through extension 237. Please reach
out to me with any comments or concerns you may have at any point throughout the year. I make a point throughout
the year to keep in touch with my student’s parents through emails and phone calls, but especially through the use of
my class website, which can be accessed by going to www.mrsjambardorn.weebly.com. This resource provides your
student with up-to-date information about assignments, due dates, and other important information pertaining to the
student’s class and can be accessed by all parents so they are aware of what our classes are doing and all assignments
the students are responsible for.

In order to provide the best communication possible, I kindly ask that you complete the second page of this
letter so that I may have information on file should I need to contact you for any reason. I also ask that you keep this
portion of the letter for future reference. Please know that I contact parents throughout the year for a variety of
reasons. For example, I might call or write an email to congratulate your child on a job well done on a particular
assignment/test, discuss an incident with you about your child that took place that day, ask a question about the
student, etc. I truly believe that the strength of my communication with you can help in promoting the success of your
child, and I intend to do everything in my power to make your student as successful as he/she can truly be during our
time together.

I truly look forward to working with the students of TMHS this year and helping them succeed during this 2019-
2020 school year!

Sincerely,
Katie Jambard-Orn
