CLEAN AIR ACT AMENDMENTS OF 1990 [TITLE VI - SECTION 608(C-1)]

“Effective July 1, 1992, it shall be unlawful for any person, in the course of maintaining, servicing,
repairing, or disposing of an appliance or industrial process refrigeration, to knowingly vent or otherwise
knowingly release or dispose of any Class I* or Class II** substance used as a refrigerant in such appliance
(or industrial process refrigeration) in a manner which permits such substance to enter the environment.
De minimis releases associated with good faith attempts to recapture and recycle or safely dispose of any
such substances shall not be subject to the prohibition set forth in the proceeding sentence.”
*Class I substances include CFC-12 **Class II substances include HCFC-22

HOW IT WORKS:

Your self contained air conditioner consists of four main components and a refrigerant gas circulating
through the system. The BLOWER draws warm interior air across the fins on the EVAPORATOR where
the heat from the air is transferred to the refrigerant in the evaporator coil. As the refrigerant evaporates
from a liquid into a gas it absorbs the heat from the warm air. The COMPRESSOR then compresses the
refrigerant gas and pumps it through the outer tube in the CONDENSER COIL. The heat from the
refrigerant is exchanged to the condenser and discharged out of the dome. The liquid refrigerant is then
passed through the EVAPORATOR COIL and the cycle repeats. Removing heat from the interior dome air
lowers its temperature. The cooled air is blown out the supply air grille which is mounted on the unit.

P-1: Operating Mode

Most Radome systems do not support heat mode operation, so this parameter should be set to "1", for
Cool Only mode. If your particular system has the electric heater option installed, this parameter can
then be set to "0" for Automatic mode, "1" for Cool Only mode, or "2" for Heat Only mode.

P-2: High Fan Limit - N/A

P-3: Low Fan Limit - N/A
P-4: Compressor Staging Time Delay - N/A

P-5: Temperature Calibration

Use this feature to calibrate the ambient sensor. Select P-5 and the ambient temperature appears in the
display. Use the up and down keys to set the correct reading. The temperature in the display will
increase or decrease as required.

5
P-6: Fail Safe Level
When a fault is detected Passport I/O will display one of the following Mnemonic fault codes:
“HPF”… Indicates high Freon pressure.
“LPF”… Indicates low Freon pressure.
“ASF”… Indicates failed air sensor.
There are four fail safe levels:
Failsafe Level 0: Only “ASF” detected and displayed. The control will shut down and will not restart
until the fault is repaired. Once the fault is repaired the control will restart.
Failsafe Level 1: All actions in level 0 plus all other faults detected but not indicated. The system shuts
down for two minutes or until the fault is cleared, whichever is longer. The system will restart if the
fault is cleared.
Failsafe Level 2: All actions same as level 0 and 1. Faults are indicated. The system shuts down for
two minutes or until the fault is cleared, whichever is longer.
Failsafe Level 3: All actions the same as level 0, 1 and 2. The system shuts down for two minutes or
until the fault is cleared, whichever is longer. The system will lockout after four consecutive “HPF”
or “LPF” faults. Pressing the Power Button once to Off Mode, and pressing again to On Mode,
clears the lockout.
NOTE: • “HPF” is not indicated and does not cause lockout in Heat Mode.
• “LPF” has a ten minute shut down delay.

P-7: Reserved for Future Option

P-8: De-Icing Cycle - N/A
P-9: Reserved for Future Option

P-10: Display Brightness Control

The display brightness can be adjusted from four (4) to thirteen (13). Four being is the dimmest and
thirteen the brightest.

P-11: Fahrenheit or Celsius Selection

The default setting is °F; select °C for Celsius readings displayed in tenths, i.e. 22.2°.

P-12: Cycle Pump with Compressor - N/A

P-13: Reverse Automatic Fan Speeds During Heating - N/A
P-14: Cycle Fan with Compressor - N/A

P-15: Reverse Cycle or Electric Heat

Most Radome systems do not support heat mode operation, so this parameter setting should remain at
the factory setting of “nor”. If your particular system has the electric heater option installed, then this
parameter should be set to "ELE" for Electric Heater Installed.

P-16: Fan Motor Selection

Model HSA(S)16K has a split capacitor fan motor (SC); HSA9K has a shaded pole fan motor (SP).

P-17: Reset Memorized Defaults

The default programming parameters can be reset by entering the program mode and selecting “rSt”.
This restores the programmable parameters to the default values. The default parameters listed in the
table may be altered by the installing dealer or end user. Once new defaults are entered (see dual button
functions) and memorized the factory defaults will be over written. The original factory program
parameters as listed in the table will have to be restored manually.
