The poem describes a baby, puppy, and bunny playing in a sterile garden. They see the bunny as dirty and unclean since it hasn't been disinfected or sterilized. They subject the bunny to various cleaning procedures like steaming, freezing, washing with disinfectants, and dressing its wounds. After being thoroughly cleaned, the bunny is allowed to join the other sterile animals in their hygienic play area where microbes do not exist and the animals bathe in disinfectants daily.

Were playing in the garden when the Bunny gamboled up;
They looked upon the Creature with a loathing undisguised;— It wasn't Disinfected and it wasn't Sterilized.
They said it was a Microbe and a Hotbed of Disease;
They steamed it in a vapor of a thousand-odd degrees; They froze it in a freezer that was cold as Banished Hope And washed it in permanganate with carbolated soap.
In sulphurated hydrogen they steeped its wiggly ears;
They trimmed its frisky whiskers with a pair of hard-boiled shears; They donned their rubber mittens and they took it by the hand And elected it a member of the Fumigated Band. There's not a Micrococcus in the garden where they play; They bathe in pure iodoform a dozen times a day;
And each imbibes his rations from a Hygienic Cup—
The Bunny and the Baby and the Prophylactic Pup.
Peter Piper picked a peck of pickled peppers.
A peck of pickled peppers Peter Piper picked. If Peter Piper picked a peck of pickled peppers, Where's the peck of pickled peppers Peter Piper picked?
I saw Susie sitting in a shoe shine shop.
Where she sits she shines, and where she shines she sits.
To sit in solemn silence in a dull, dark dock,
In a pestilential prison, with a life-long lock, Awaiting the sensation of a short, sharp shock, From a cheap and chippy chopper on a big black block! To sit in solemn silence in a pestilential prison, And awaiting the sensation From a cheap and chippy chopper on a big black block!
