SWOT ANALYSIS

Strength

1. Shopee’s rise has been meteoric it launched in 2015 but they caught up in product listings, claiming to
have 65 million products on its apps compared to carousel’s 57 million.

2. Shopee claims to have reached US$1.8 billion in annualized gross merchandise value. If the actual
figure held up, it’ll be comparable to or even exceed Lazada.

3. Shopee has an incredibly large spend on acquisition, discounts, and subsidies to get more shoppers
through online.

4. Another special feature of the Shopee, the users can share their favorite products on social media with
just a simple tap.

Weaknesses

Delay in Delivery - The delivery of the product to the customer's takes about 1-3 weeks that frustrates the
customers and prevents them from buying.

Model Vs. Reality - When customers ordered clothes, they tried it on and realized it looks completely
different on them than it did on the model. Sizing charts may have accurate measurements, but they don't
take height, body type or weight into consideration.

Missing Product Information - Lack of offering detailed product information that addresses the shopper
questions about a product refuses them to buy as they can't imagine how it will look like once unpacked.

Opportunities

1. Shopee is the leading e-commerce platform in Southeast Asia and Taiwan, is a platform tailored for the
region providing a customer with an easy, secure and fast online shopping experience through strong
payment and logistical support.

2. The Shopee team comprises over 8,000 employees from across the region, and they rapid expansion,
they are constantly on the look for potential young talents who have the passion and drive to become of
the fast moving and dynamic team.

Threats

1.Market trends: People can sell and buy items via Facebook or eBay without browsing shopee.

2.Competition: Nowadays, there are a lot of e- commerce competitors that offer the same service in
shopee like Lazada and Amazon.

3.Being unprepared for opening numbers: Initial service or lack of stacks discourage customers from
returning.

4.Consumer reactions: Public reactions could affect the reputation of the shopee. The review from the
customers are very important because it certifies if the service or the product is good.
