5 Good designs
1. Trusses on roof of LHC: These trusses help distributing the forces due to seismic activity and
help in minimizing damage due to earthquakes

2. Verticle Channels in Main building: These verticles channels traps the air flowing at height
and guides it to the low pressure area created at ground level due to upliftment of hot air
mass. Thus creating a fast flowing wind in that area a.k.a Wind Tunnel.
3. The Dual Behaviour Door: This door is in TBIU of IIT Delhi. This door is very large and wall
adjacent it prevents in making collapsible door. So designers has designed a door which can
slide and fold at the same time.

4. The Cores of Engineering: This art piece is not normal structure, it tells about heart of the
institute, the very fundamental 3 branches of engineering – Electrical, Mechanical and Civil.
 5. Swastik shaped Shivalik hostel: Constructed in 1964 by French architects have special
feature that every room has either door or window having access to sun during day.which is
important for positive and encouraging personality.

5 Bad Designs
1.Inverted Tetrahedron: Inversion of this shape decreases the emissivity by almost 40 % making it
less effective.

2. Dustbins: They have to be fixed otherwise dogs topple them down

3. Bad Design of Kumaun Hostel: Exact opposite of Shivalik ,it has depressing structure with no
sunlight in maximum rooms.

4. Stairs hitting head during going down through stairs in Main building behind CCD
5. Total Waste of Footpath: unnecessarily used for parking
 4 innovative modes of commutation
1. A public pedal bus with individual separating units for someone going else where
2. Gyroscopic one tyre skateboard chargeable by 120v ac supply
3. We can see Iconic side rail throughout the campus . It can be used as rack and we can have
pedal seats coupled with pinion to move with pedalling.
4. Parasitic Handle that can be held upon any moving vehicle with telescopic action to absorb
shocks in case of variable speeds.
